Is this normal?? My LO cut her first tooth on Monday and since then has little interest in nursing but will take a bottle. Is she weaning herself or is this normal with teething? I have worked so hard to breastfeed her, so I hope she's not weaning
Teething is one of the most common causes of frequent night waking during the second six months and through the second year. It can also cause fussy nursing behavior, as some babies experience gum discomfort with sucking. Baby might start to nurse, but then pull off and cry or fuss and not want to nurse anymore. Other babies nurse nearly constantly because the nursing is soothing to them.
@Jackdmull2013 & @jnetx thank you. It's been quite an uphill road with the BF and I'm hopeful that my supply will be ok while she's teething. Guess it's time to dust off the ole pump...
I'm going through the same thing. Andrew refuses to take the breast but he's very happy with a bottle. It makes me pretty sad that he wants a bottle over me. He hasn't cut a tooth yet. I keep trying to offer him the breast as much as I can. Since he isn't nursing enough I've seen my pumping output decrease so with the advice from our pedi I had to rent a hospital grade pump to see if I can increase my pumping supply at least. It's been a week and I've seen a little bit of an increase in my pumping supply. Like you said I really hope I can get him back on the breast because it's less clean up and pumping all the time is time consuming.

Normal
This is exactly my experience since LO's tooth has cut through. She will night feed for comfort and nutrition and want to cuddle all day.
