first period after stillborn

Ladies,

I started my period the other day (makes sense- it's been 5 weeks). It has been incredibly heavy- no cramps. So heavy I cannot leave the house.

Is this normal? What was your experience? I didn't have this much blood after I delivered. It was rather light for 2 weeks.

I'm seeing my doc later today for sleeping issues and I think I will bring this up.

Maybe it's not your period yet. Postpartum bleeding can stop and start.

I am 6 weeks out and haven't gotten my period yet. I'm pretty sure I ovulated last week (I can always feel it). If I am right I should get it next week.

I agree that it could still be pp bleeding. I bled on and off for 7 weeks, then got my period at about 9 weeks I think.

I got my first pp period 5 weeks after Devon was born sleeping, and it was pretty heavy for the first two days [with mild cramping]. I bled for 10 days. I thought it was just pp bleeding again, too, but I only bled lightly for two weeks, like you. My cycles were all jacked for a few months, but I went four weeks in between that bleeding and my next round, so I called it my period.

My OB told me that heavy bleeding like that was possible with my first pp period, but he wanted me to call if the heavy bleeding continued after a day.

Doc said it was most likely my period. And this it would probably be really heavy for the next few months.

After my late loss d&e, I had a pretty normal period about 5 weeks later. After my early miscarriage and d&c I bled so hard that I was bleeding through my pad and into my pants after an hour. I called the OB and they told me it was normal and to call back if it didn't let up in 24 hours. It did but for several hours I was having to change my pad every 45 mins or so...it was awful.

I also had my first period 5 weeks after Elijah. It was very heavy (unusually so for me). I bled for over a week (also unusual for me). I started back on BC during this time and I had another period a week or so after my first one ended (at least I thought it was my period). Prior to pregnancy, my cycle was very regular, light and short so I am hoping it gets back to that soon.

I bled a lot following my twin delivery for about 3 weeks. AF arrived at 6w5d post-loss and started out very light & lochia-like but then was heavy for 2 days and then light again. I also had some cramping, which I usually never have.

I hope yours lets-up soon so you can leave the house--sounds awful.

After our first loss (induction) I bled for 2 weeks. I got my period two weeks after that. It was VERY heavy and I had very bad cramping. My dr said that this was all normal and not to worry. It's hard not to when you're feeling like your body failed you. Still waiting for AF this time after bleeding for 2 weeks (D&C).
