Yes, I have this (aka single umbilical artery). From what I've read, 75% of babies with this are perfectly healthy. Risks for the other 25% include kidney/GI/heart issues. I had a panorama screening which was low risk and my anatomy scan didn't show anything of significance. I go back for a fetal echocardiogram around 24 weeks (I'm 23 weeks now) to check closely on the baby's heart. My MFM and Ob/gyn hasn't mentioned monitoring me further beyond that, but from what I've read sometimes the baby's growth can slow towards the end of pregnancy- so I'm going to have them check up on this. I hope that helps and that you have a healthy and happy 9 months!
I do! I'm 29 weeks along and all is well. I've been told the same stats as bcnoelle. I had genetic bloodwork done and an echo on the baby's heart to rule out genetic issues. All is fine. I'm getting growth scans periodically and baby is measuring ahead right now! I'll start non stress tests at 36 weeks. My sis in law is an ob and she says this is pretty common ( 1/100) pregnancies.
I do as well. Docs and midwives are not too concerned about it, but it has scored me a few extra ultrasounds so far to monitor growth and kidneys. My baby is actually measuring several weeks ahead in size, so that hasn't been an issue here. They did say I might need further ultrasounds at the end of pregnancy to monitor growth and well being.
Yep, our DD had this and she was born without any problems. I was told all they would do is have a few extra ultrasounds to check on growth (which I was going to have anyway because I have diabetes).
Try not to worry, it's fairly common. DO NOT GOOGLE it. Trust me, it causes too much unneeded stress.
Hi! Our baby has this too. My ob insn't worried about but the high risk drs at my practice want to do an ultrasound too ( mine was just last week) did anyone else have to do this?

We had an extra echocardiogram ultrasound at around 24 weeks and will be doing monthly growth ultrasounds to make sure no IUGR is noted. I'm 30 weeks and no issues so far. Good luck to you and your baby!
I'm a lurker who was on the board periodically before DS was born in October. I was devastated to learn we had a SUA, especially since we lost DD to congenital heart disease. It turns out that in our case, the SUA was isolated, with no other associated defects. We had a normal cardiac echo at 22 weeks. I was monitored (high risk) but I would have been even without the SUA. His growth was excellent throughout the pregnancy. I was induced and delivered just before 38 weeks and he was more than 8 lbs at that time. My OB said the cord was quite thick and robust. DS remains in the 95%ile for height and weight. So ladies with this diagnosis, not only is it possible to have a healthy baby, but it's even possible to have a big healthy baby. Best wishes to all of you!
