Am I the only one who hasn't seen Frozen?

I am starting to feel guilty for not taking DD 3.5 to see it. We have never taken the kids to a movie theater and DH and I haven't even gone to a movie in like 2yrs. I feel like every other kid has seen it. I am guilt tripping myself into possibly buying the movie. I did want to take her to the theater, were just so busy all the time that it just never worked out.

  • Heck no, you're not the only one! I'm always way behind everybody else when it comes to movies.  We just saw Despicable Me 2 last weekend!  And I wouldn't feel guilty.  I have nothing against movies, but there's just other stuff I'd rather do with DS than that so it falls behind on my priorities.

Maybe you can buy or rent the movie and have a family movie night.  That's what we did for DM 2 and it was actually really fun :)

  • Yea we will definitely rent it. I'm just thinking that she will probably love it and want to watch it a billion times.

  • We haven't seen it either. At this point, I'm waiting until it hits our $2 theater.
  • We haven't seen it.

Frankly I hate kids movies (grinch, I know).

If DD asks, we will take her, but I think she's a bit young to sit still for that long.

  • Nope. Haven't seen it and don't plan to. We took DS to the theater for Planes when he was 2.5 and he was way too young for it. He got scared of the noise and dark then got bored before the previews ended!

  • I saw the preview for Frozen when my husband and I were at a different movie and I leaned over and whispered "that looks horrible."  Needless to say, we haven't gone to see it.  I'm sure once it's on cable we'll see it.

I did take our older two to see the Lego movie because hey, I like legos.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • I haven't seen it and I have a 2.5 year old daughter.  She's never been to the movie theater but I have been thinking about taking her.  Maybe I need to do it for Frozen since it's still playing locally for us.

  • We haven't seen it either and I would not feel guilty about it at all! Most 2 year olds don't sit still through a whole movie, right? Or maybe mine's the only one who finds Disney movies entertaining for all of 20-30 minutes, then gets up and plays with her blocks? My two year old is clearly not ready or interested in going to the theater and there's no rush IMO.

My 2yr old DS probably wouldn't sit through it (part of why we didn't go) but my DD is 3.5 and will definitely sit through a Disney movie. And I feel like All the girls in her class are talking about it. That's why I'm feeling guilty.

  • Oh, sorry! I misread your age trackers and thought you had a 2 year old & a baby.

  • Nope. Ds is media free. And dh and I aren't really concerned with seeing it!
  • I'm not into movies, even at 31 I have a hard time sitting still for 2 hours, I'd rather watch a movie at home while on my lap top and snacking.  DH has taken DD to 2 or 3 movies as special Daddy daughter days since about 2 1/2.  He took her to Frozen and then MIL took her again.  She really enjoyed it.  If she doesn't get it for her birthday next week we'll probably buy it, if not I definitely want to rent it so I can see it.
It's funny we took her to the circus last year (almost 3), I just took her to the Fancy Nancy Musical (almost 4) and she doesn't have the patience to sit through it.  I've heard now, at almost 4, she can make it through a movie, but it does take alot of snacks and bathroom breaks.
  • We haven't seen it.  I was thinking it would be too long for DD to watch the whole thing and I don't care to watch it until she is interested.

  • Frozen was the first movie DD1 saw in the theater, and really the first full-length that she has been able to sit through at home.  She's almost 4.5, and I took her about 2 months ago.  She really did like it, but I wouldn't have bothered to take her any earlier.

Honestly, she likes it just as much when I let her stay up a bit late to watch a movie at home.  I make popcorn (real popcorn, with a hot air popper, so we don't do it often because it's kind of a pain), and we set up a little picnic blanket in the family room.  She really loves it.  For her, the best part of the theater was the popcorn anyway, and the stuff we make at home is soooo much better!
  • Saw it twice in the theater and every day DS asks if the mailman has his dvd copy.

I thought this was one of Disney's best movies since Beauty and the Beast

Okay, so I kind of thought the same thing based on the preview, but I have a 4 year old girl. So we went and I absolutely loved it. It was nothing like I expected it to be. The stupid previews didn't do it any justice at all. My girls (4 and 2) have been singing the songs for months and Elsa and Anna have eclipsed Ariel as the most beloved princesses in our house. The movie is out on blu-ray tomorrow. I imagine it will be watched over and over and over at our house. Honestly, the best Disney movie I've seen in years.

  • I haven't seen it. Funny...it's available on international flights and DH s watched it on his way home from Europe last week. I nearly peed my pants when I heard him admit to watching a Disney /kids movie. However, even my "dudes' dude" husband liked it. He wants to netflix yet for the family when it's available.;-)

  • I haven't seen it. Please tell me why everyone has a hard-on for this movie? I'm assuming it came out on DVD today (or recently) because people on my FB can't quit posting about it. What's the big deal?

    SPOILER alert -

it's really funny. lots of witty adult humor (that isn't crude, just funny). the music is amazing.

the story is non-traditional Disney - yes, the princesses are orphaned, but instead of the true love of a prince saving the day, it's sisterly love that saves the day. and the princess picks the regular guy instead of the prince.

    Thanks

Because its good,  Movies that get talked about a lot are either very good or very bad.

Crossed the billion dollar mark at the theaters, the soundtrack has topped the charts and on Tuesday alone 3.2 million DVDs were sold - stuff like this leads to a lot of buzz.

DS saw it in the theater with his aunt, so I hadn't seen it yet. I resisted watching it Tuesday, LOL  We watched it last night. I also don't get the big deal. Not to dissect a kids' movie, but there were too many holes in the plot.

And as I'm typing this, I realize my son is reenacting the dialog by himself in the living room.....
  • LO can't sit through an entire movie yet and DH and I just don't care. We'll get plenty of Disney when he's older. No rush.

  • I haven't. Our kids have yet to go to a theater. We discussed buying it now that it's on DVD.
