This is probably a real dumb question, but if you have PUPPP on your legs, can you shave? Or have you tried? My puppp started on my arms and tummy, but now as moved to my feet and all around my legs. I am really wanting to shave my legs (the hair has got to that prickly stage and I want to itch more

...ick!) Any ideas, should I just be real careful if I try? TIA!
Re: Gals with PUPPP
Hi there!
Soooo very sorry to hear that you have this. I had a horrible batch of PUPPPS at week 32. I'm now at week 34 and they seem to have calmed down (knock on wood!) because of some meds and by using Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap (sold at GNC stores).
I was nervous to shave, but I had to give in! I was extremely careful and took a LONG time to do so...and it did not irritate the PUPPPS. I used the soap I just mentioned...nothing scented/not my normal kind...so I'm not sure if that means anything. I made sure to have a thick lather, as well, and also put Hydrocortisone Cream 1% on my legs (in a thin layer) once I was out of the shower. Hope this helps!
Good luck and feel better!
Thank you for your response! Isn't it the worst? I'm on my second bar of the Pine Tar soap so far. I think I'm going to try to shave...it just makes me so nervous! I could not imagine having puppp with twins! Mine started at 28 weeks, and after 2 weeks with no relief, I went to the dermatologist for light therapy. It worked like a charm! It took about two weeks but it really looked like it was gone! For three weeks, I went three times a week, but it worked. The nurses there said they could tell it was still there, but no one else would be able to. So they let me cut down to once a week treatments. Such a bad idea...it came back with a vengeance, so I'm back to the soap, lotions and three times a week light therapy.
Not sure how long they will let you go with twins, but if yours starts to act up, and gets to that shower in the middle of the night, can't sleep, clothes are beginning to pill (because you itch so much) stage, go to the dermatologist, light therapy has been a life saver (sorry that's a little dramatic), but honestly with puppp, the relief is far and few in between. Hope you are feeling good as well!
Thanks soooo very much for the light therapy recommendation! I appreciate it so very much. It does sound like it is a life saver...I can not believe this stuff occurs. I love this Web site...such a great place to chat with other Mamas.
I am trying to keep some options on hand in case this craziness comes back!! Thanks again and have a happy day
