Please help me disinfect !!

So my dog took it upon himself to poop wall to wall in my living room while I wasn't in the room :( Luckily, K was sleeping, so I wasn't pulling poop out of her hands. However, this is the room she spends 95% percent of her time in. She eats Cheerios she drops, she lays on the floor, sippy on the floor, toys, etc. Help me disinfect the carpet without the use of chemicals or having to go rent a steam cleaner. FWIW, it wasn't diarrhea, not that it matters much :(

  • If it wasn't runny I would just vacuum and use carpet cleaner. We On my way! an actual carpet cleaner, so I would use that, but if you don't want to rent or borrow one I don't think you have many other options.

  • You can make your own cleaning spray with tea tree oil and white vinegar. If you google homemade disinfectant spray it should list the recipe.

  • Thanks ladies ! I saturated the area with Lysol after I cleaned it up in hopes it would penetrate the area, then left the house while it dried. I need to go to the store today, so I will pick up some white vinegar.

You can oxyclean the spots. Or if you have a steamer, floor or garment, you can add half vinegar half water and steam clean the spots.

Just make sure you give the spots time to dry. Damp carpet attracts and holds in dirt.
