Re: *~September Sapphires Check-In~*

  • Hey ladies, happy Thursday :) Big ((hugs)) to those who need them.

Trigger was not bad! DH gave it to me, and we both psyched ourselves out over it big time. I iced the area beforehand so when he actually did it, I barely felt it. I started the progesterone suppositories last night and they're a little gross but it's not unbearable.. then again I've only done it once haha.

QOTW: I grew up in PA and now live in VA so not really close. Close enough for me though, I like having a few hours between our families and us lol.

I have no clue what is going on with my cycle. Good news is that I have not had spotting the last 2 days. I hope it is gone for good. MH is out of town for a few weeks so I'm not concerned about timing.

NTTCALR:  I'm going to a Michael Jackson themed cirque du soleil show tomorrow night!

QOTW: Do you currently live near where you grew up? You don't have to tell us where if you don't want to.
I live within 1.5 hours of where I grew up. Close enough to have to drive home for holidays but far enough away not to see former high school acquaintances.

@luciddreamer106 All ready for your monitoring appt tomorrow??  Any word back on YH's test results?  Also, I meant to say something yesterday regarding the pentoxifylline for circulation that you mentioned. One of the advantages of acupuncture for fertility is better blood circulation to the uterus. Just a thought.

@natsfans84 I'm so glad to hear the trigger shot went well.  Progesterone is yucky. I think you will get used to them eventually. GL!

  • Hi Sapphires!

@lucciddreamer106- Thanks for running the checkin this week love!  How are your doing?

@natsfan84- Glad to hear the trigger wasn't too bad. Best of luck this cycle!

@myfirstraspberry- Enjoy the show.  It sounds awesome!

@RN536- Good luck with the 2WW.  I hope it doesn't make you too crazy!

My transfer is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.  I'm getting nervous.  I took the day off Wednesday so I don't have to work in morning.  Hopefully, this should allow me to relax before hand and not have to deal with work stress and then getting to the transfer in time.

PIO shots start tomorrow night and I'm really concerned about those.  I hope they aren't as bad as I have them worked up in my mind.

QOTW: I live less than a mile from my parents.  Its nice to see them all the time but they don't ever show up unannounced.

  • HI Sapphires - Sorry I missed last week!

@lucciddreamer106 - Thanks for the check in. I'm doing well.  Had a moment of self pity today when yet another Mommy friend told me today she was pg...EDD 3 days after my EDD wld have been....always stings but was hard to swallow that news esp just knowing the date.  HUGS to all of you!  You all know the pain we hide, the smiles we paste on, and the breaths that are hard to catch sometimes.

Other than that - we are on CD 23.  Hoping for the best this cyle.  Trying to stay optimistic.

QOTW: Nope, not at all. Grew up in the North & am living in the South now.  Love the warm weather here and would't move back.  Miss family though!

Yay for no spotting! Fx it stays away. I'm glad that you're having fun while DH is away ! That show sounds really exciting.

I've considered acupuncture, but just need to convince DH. It's a bit pricy in our area. I've looked into group settings, but I'm sure they'll want to put the needles on my abdomen and I don't want everyone to see. :) I'm going to try him again though. I'm looking forward to my appointment tomorrow.

I think that's a good idea about taking the day off. You can sleep in, relax, and not worry about leaving in time. I have everything crossed that the transfer is successful. I think katib gave you good advice yesterday. I also agree that the anticipation will probably be worse than it actually is. Fx.

((Hugs)) hearing that news can be so hard, especially when it's near your own EDD. For future reference, please put a "pregnancy" or "BFP" warning before posts like this. Reading about someone else's pregnancy, especially someone we don't know can be hard to read.

  • I have my monitoring u/s tomorrow afternoon and I'm actually looking forward to it. As long as the blood work is back for DH, we're doing an IUI. It's nice that he'll actually be going with me because we 'll need to figure out the logistics of getting it done.

I live about a 8-9 hour drive north of where I grew up. Sometimes I wish we were closer to family, but I love where we live.

@CallaLily30 Smart move taking some time off before the transfer. No extra stress.  I can't wait to hear about how it goes next week.

  • jenn0021: How are you doing this week? Your follow-up with the RE is coming up.

I'm doing okay this week. My mom is here for a visit so we've been having fun doing puzzles, eating good food and buying books. It's also been a nice distraction. Although tonight was hard because I got blindsided by a pg announcement at a ladies event I was at and it sucked. Oh, and my RE appointment got bumped a week so I have to wait until the 31st now. While I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, it still sucks.

Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone. I haven't had much computer time with my Mom here and I only have a second now.

  • Hi everyone!

I am very sorry I missed last week. I had a super busy week/week-end. Plus, I had a few days off and I never seem to bump when I'm off - it's just not part of my "lazy" routine :) We had a fun weekend full of birthdays, shamrocks, green beer, and parades. We were supposed to go out to dinner for DH's birthday on Sunday, but found out our first floor toilet was leaking into our bathroom and water was everywhere. Turns out when our bathroom was renovated a few years ago, they guys installed the wrong kind of pipe to something - they put in plastic and it needed to be copper. Anyways, $800 later it was fixed, but DH missed his birthday dinner. What a bummer. So, this weekend we are going out to celebrate.

I am doing pretty well - still waiting to O this cycle. I am on CD 13 right now. We have some company at our house this weekend and I anticipate I'll O something this weekend, too, so we'll just have to be BD ninjas :)

QOTW: I live about 20 miles north of my home-town. I'd love to move back someday. Houses are bigger and schools are better, but for now, we like where we are. We're close to the lake and our street is quite with nice neighbors. My SIL and BIL and niece and nephew live just one street over, and it's nice to be so close to them.

  • @jenn0021 Sounds like you and your mom are having a lot of fun together. Sorry to hear the RE appt got moved out. I can imagine that must be frustrating for you.

@anglndsguse44 Yikes! Sorry to hear about the bathroom water leak. That sounds messy!  I'm glad you get a second change to celebrate YH's birthday. Have fun!

jenn0021: How are you doing this week? Your follow-up with the
    RE is coming up.

I'm glad your mom is visiting and able to distract you. How fun! Sorry to hear that your appt got pushed back. When you've already been waiting, being told that the wait will be even longer sucks. ((Hugs))

Wow! Sorry to hear about the bathroom, that sounds like such a mess. I hope you're able to get in some fun, secret ninja sex in. Sometimes that makes it extra exciting. ;)

luciddreamer106 Thanks for the check in! How was your monitoring appt? Do you feel better after getting logistics and all figured out?

natsfans84 fingers crossed for you this cycle! Glad the trigger wasn't too bad!

MyFirstRaspberry hopefully with no spotting does mean you'll start to even out soon.

RN536 hoping the 2WW flies for you and FX that this is it!

CallaLily30 Good luck on Wednesday. It looks like you posted that update a day or two ago, so how have the shots been so far? As bad as you thought?

graceanne927 Sorry you had a rough day. I know how you feel. An acquaintance announced on FB, and their EDD is 4 days after mine would have been. They have an older soon (at least 10) and this baby was an accident. I couldn't help thinking it wasn't fair. :/ Fingers crossed this cycle worked for you!

jenn0021 Enjoy your visit with your mom! I've been bugging my parents to come out and visit. Sorry your appt got pushed back. :/ It's frustrating when you want actions and answers immediately and just have to spend a lot of timing waiting.

anglndsguse44 Sounds like a really fun week (and similar to mine!) minus the bathroom leak. That sucks.

My week was pretty good for the most part. I've kept super busy with my friends, out for St. Patty's, farmers markets, hikes, movie nights, etc. When I've had downtime I'm binge-watching How I met Your Mother. I also had my first PT appt on Friday which was interesting and awkward but if it helps that's good I guess.

DH is still OOT which I hate to admit has been awesome. Today is the first day I've even looked at FF. I don't care about my CM or my temp or anything. I sort of forgot what it's like to be 'care free' in that department. I needed a major mental break before IUI.

I'm starting a 7 day cleaning eating detox diet program because I really need a kick in the ass to get my fitness back on track since I've been hardcore slacking since my last 2WW followed by my cyst. I want to get my life together, get my eating right and get myself in shape so I can be healthier for both me and hopefully a future baby. I'm finally feeling positive again, and I've been really woe is me negative lately, and this has been a great break. Although I miss DH!

Wow that was long sorry lol.

  • Hello, lovelies. Sorry I am late to the check in. It's been a craptastic time. AF came on Sunday afternoon, not a good time. On the upside, I had my bw this morning so hopefully I will get some answers from that soon. They said two to three days. I am nauseous now, I am sure that has to do with the vials they took (I HATE needles) and not eating. I decided to work from home the rest of today so I can be in my period pants and have a heating pad for my over the top cramps this cycle.

Hope y'all have a great day. Love and ((Hugs)) to all of you!

@megrae12 Sorry for AF and the nausea. Hope the blood work brings reassuring news.

@kaynix21 Hope the detox is going well. Kuddos to you for rocking it out.

I am doing ok. Cyst pain is less persistent so hopefully the *&^# thing is going away. Have an us scheduled in early April to check on the status of it. AF came and went without much fanfare and now I'm on CD10. Hoping for a positive OPK in the next week or so as I learn how to chart while we're benched. Six weeks post-op yesterday and aside from some bloating here and there, my stomach no longer feels like it was jostled around. And, I haven't cried in over a week despite starting to care for more and more patients who are noticeably pregnant or those experiencing losses in the ER so we're making progress (I would have my colleagues take those patients in the first shifts back post-loss - too raw to not collapse into a puddle counseling them). Now if I can just get through seeing my SIL's new twins when she has them next month, especially since my in-laws really don't get the fact that losing my first pregnancy has been a big deal for me emotionally.

@Flowerstar1023‌ It sounds like you're making some good progress. I think it's common for those who have experienced loss to have emotions go in waves. You'll still have bad days, but they'll be with less frequency as time goes on. I'm sorry that your family is not understanding, I can relate to that. I'm glad that you seem to have awesome co-workers who will help you when you need it.

Eta: My appt went ok, thanks for asking. My follicles weren't big enough to trigger, so I have another follicle scan on Wednesday.

  • Late to the check in. Hectic week!

    @graceanne927‌
I understand and can relate to your feelings about hearing of another's BFP and EDD. It does take your breath away. I also feel like everywhere I look are PG women. I keep getting emails from various sources regarding baby things. I could've sworn I unsubscribed from them all.

    @luciddreamer106‌
I hope your scan next week goes well.

I had a follow up appt with the midwife yesterday following my D&C. All went well, we have the green light to try again once AF returns. The doctor recommended waiting two cycles, midwife said one. I've read online and it seems like it's six of one, half dozen to the other. Input?

I live about 1.5 hours from home. It's great to be able to be such a short drive from my family. They came to visit this weekend. We worked on a bathroom reno which is just about finished!

@melissal121 There is a lot of variance on how long we're told to wait. I would ask your doctor why he/she wanted you to wait two cycles and get some clarification. Is the doctor your PCP, the one who performed the D&C? Which provider is more familiar with your history? I would lean toward following advice from the one who knows you the most.

  • @melissal121 Personally I think it's a bit of guess work/voodoo. There just isn't the greatest research. I'd say air on the more conservative estimate (better safe than sorry/second guessing yourself if something goes wrong).

  • Good morning all, I would love to join this group, it would be nice to have people to talk with.

A bit about my situation, I had my first BFP on Jan 4, 2014 with an EDD of 9/16/14. At our twelve week ultrasound we had a nuchal fold reading of 6.5 mm and were told we had an 85% chance of the baby having a chromosome abnormality. We tried to do a CVS test, but were unable to due to the placement of the placenta. So we did the blood test instead. About a week later our results came back showing Trisomy 13. At week 13 we were able to do the CVS test to be 100% sure of the diagnosis, and the next day the results confirmed the baby had a Robertsonian translocation Trisomy 13. We were heartbroken, and shocked to be going through this with our first pregnancy, especially when you find out how rare this one is and my age (28). We made the decision to continue with the pregnancy knowing that we had a 99% chance of miscarriage. We were going to have weekly ultrasounds to check for a heartbeat for the rest of the pregnancy. At our next scan (14 1/2 weeks) they did not find a heartbeat and I went in for a D&C the next week. We are heartbroken over the loss of our son, but also a bit relieved it did not go on for more months wondering if today is the day and we can remember the majority of the pregnancy when it was full of happiness.
We are still awaiting approval from our insurance company to do a chromosome test on both my DH and I since a Robertsonian translocation can be inherited (very rare though). And hoping this was just a one off, otherwise we will not be able to have biological children together.

    **Others' pregnancy mentioned**

There is a girl that I work with that has a due date a few days ahead of what mine was, so everyday I see her bump and am reminded of where I should be. Along with facebook, it has made these past few weeks quite hard. But my DH has been my rock throughout this, and we know we are closer than we were before. A small silver lining in this whole situation.

Hope everyone is having a nice Hump Day and looking forward to getting to know all of you!

I'm so sorry for your loss!  Thank you for sharing your story.  I hope that you find much encouragement here.  I can relate to being close to someone whose EDD is near what yours would have been; the constant reminder is tough.  Hugs and I hope your stay is a short one.
