Success after IF

Salsa???

If it isn't too spicy, is it ok to give E salsa? She is obsessed with dipping foods, and if she sees us dipping food in anything, she MUST have it. Last night we gave her a chicken quesadilla, and she cried until we let her have some salsa to dip it in. My mom worries about it being bad for her with the spices and peppers and acidic tomatoes. Anyone else's LO love salsa?

Re: Salsa???

  • Thanks Ducky! E is the same way. But she will dip anything in there, apples, fingers, whatever. Or drink it straight out of the ramekin. The one we buy is fresh made in the store, so it's all real food too.

    Exactly! We got so many dirty looks when we took E to an Indian restaurant and let her try almost everything. Indian babies eat Indian food, why can't she? FTR, she loves it. Thai food too.

  • That's awesome @mdiblasi10‌! We get a lot of looks, but she eats what we eat, always has. She loves veggie sushi rolls and edamame so much. I love having a (mostly) good eater. And she LOVES to eat from chopsticks. Somehow makes food taste better I guess. :)

    Haha, no, she can't use them. But she loves when we feed her from them. Poor wording choice, sorry. She can barely manipulate a fork, chopsticks would be quite impressive indeed.

    @TJ1979   :))

    For a month or so, M whines when he sees DH & I use chopsticks.  So we gave him "his" chopsticks (just a shorter pair we have at home) to play with, after he's done eating.  He used to flick foods all over the place with the chopsticks (not intentionally, but just happens), so we made sure he didn't have much food left on his plate.  Lately he hasn't asked for them so we haven't offered.

    M does not like being fed at all, from an early age (like 7m).  It's a bit of both a blessing and a curse.  He now does okay with a spoon... he self-feeds yogurt but 1/2 of it ends up on his smock. He used to use the fork but lately he just puts it aside and uses his hands instead.

    She's almost 3. I think we gave her sushi (an avocado roll that I pulled apart) for the first time when she was about 11 months.

    We've done pulled apart avocado rolls too.  I worry that the seaweed paper is too chewy for her at 19 months.  Good to know she's halfway to old enough to eat sushi on her own!

    I don't think that A ate the seaweed wrapper part until she was older. We don't do any raw rolls for her, just cooked ones like California or vegi ones.

    Ooh, yeah, I don't care for raw rolls anyhow, and I wouldn't do those for her.  But she gets very jealous when I eat sushi in front of her, so I will be happy when I am comfortable letting her eat them on her own.
