Success after IF

Update Thread - Everyone can play!

So I'm totally guilty of posting for advice, sickness, DH traveling, etc and then never updating my SAIF peeps. Not sure if you all care, but I know I wonder how everyone's ER trippers are doing, daycare woes, etc panned out.

So update what is going on or any resolutions to past posts, advice taken or just general chatter.

I'll go first:
I asked about shoes for my little walker. I bought J some super-cute stride-rite shoes. She still isn't a huge fan of shoes, but she is starting to understand that they must be on when we are in public if she wants to be down.

Little Gym. I haven't signed up yet. I might just wait a month or two until it is too hot outside and it will give us something fun to do.

DH traveling. He still travels about one week a month. It isn't going to change. I still don't like it, but my mom told me to suck it up and deal (in a much nicer way). She is right and I can't let myself panic or wallow when he is gone. Wine every night he is gone helps.

My only update is that nail cutting is so easy now. I pull up either barney or Elmo videos on my phone. J is fascinated and I trim the nails in just a couple of minutes. I have no problems bribing her this way, there was so much stress over this issue and now it is no problem.
@mg0202 I'm so glad you found something that works!  MH has started teaching E 1-2-3 then something happens, such as 1-2-3, E gets thrown in the air, or 1-2-3, we tickle each other.  So he does the same thing with her nails.  She knows it's going to happen on 3, then we clap for her.  She can also now count to 3.  Well, she can count to one, du, chee!

I haven't really posted much lately, but here goes!

A has 4, yes, four, teeth poking through or visible through her gums-they seem to be fast and furious! Luckily, she is a champ. Some Motrin and extra snuggles keeps her pretty happy.

DH an I are going back to the RE on 3/31 for a consult with the RE who took over the practice. I have heard good things and I'm hoping he is receptive to why worked for us in the past, since my ovaries do not behave as expected! I'm going to do some research into the immune testing and see if it's something we should pursue. Sadly (luckily????), I have had a lot of testing done already from the Beers list @luvboston sent me due to my existing health issues. We are excited and nervous and u have some serious baby fever :)

A is not weaned yet, but we are down to morning and bedtime only. She uses my massive freezer stash during the day. I'm so greatful that she didn't protest less booby time! She handled it so well! I definitely have a little guilt about pushing a bit to wean :( I still have yet to have a PP period, so I have no idea when we may actually start treatment again.

(Holy cow, that got long ;) )

@TJ1979‌ I'm SO happy you got a nanny!!! Yippy!!

  • @TJ1979 you must be counting down the days until the 31st for your nanny. Daycare is hard enough without the extra stress.

Since returning to work things are a little easier. I've made some adjustments like picking my DS up instead of dropping off and working earlier hours. It's still hard and hoping it gets easier.

Several ladies here suggested the Ferber book and it helped a lot. LO is up twice a night and I'm hoping that will get better too.

Had my dreaded hysteroscopy this morning they found more than thought but I didn't feel the shots and my experience wasn't bad. Opk turned positive last night so we should be good to cycle in April :)

Being newer to the board I wanted to thank all you ladies for your help and suggestions over the past few months :)

  • I haven't been around as much since I started my new job last week.

Also a little Debbie downer to follow....... My last post (I think) talked about my dad being in the hospital. His official diagnosis is stage 3/4 cancer of the head and neck, with a poor prognosis. In addition to the crazy, never ending demands in my sisters and I over the past 2 weeks - I've been having a VERY hard time with my anger. It sucks and the whole thing is consuming me, if I'm not mad, I'm crying because I'm sad. Thank god I have Molly - she is literally my bright spot in every day. Not much else to report. I'm really hoping DH and I are back at the RE sometime in the next few months but we can't seem to get our ducks in a row...... Not to mention I can't even imagine treatments in top of everything else of late. Urgh.....not stressing too much over that though, it will fall into place one way or another. Hope everything is well with everyone else. Miss my SAIF ladies :)

@JBDamonM - big hugs sweetie! I'm sorry about your dad's diagnosis and the amount of stress you're going through. I hope you find a way to work through it.

I'm with you on going back to the RE. We really want to as well but finances are not working out well for this to happen. DH refuses to put anything regarding this on a credit card, and honestly I do too. We did it all cash the first time around and will again, it's just taking longer than we'd hoped and it's frustrating.

  • Good thread idea!!

@TJ1979, so happy you have a new childcare option!!

@JBDamonM‌ I'm so sorry to hear about your dad :(

So I got a new position at work, it's for 9 months, full time, and it's overnight. Well it's a sleeper shift at least. Hubby and I are really trying to pay off some serious debt and I'm hoping that I'll get pregnant in the next 9 months cuz this would help me have a great maternity leave. Although I am struggling with being back at work, SO much drama I am willing to work super hard for a set time to improve our lives.

My other update is SIL, FACS is working closely with her. Teaching her how to be a good mom. And that's the extent of it. Nothing will happen anytime soon cuz they won't remove the child until it is the last resort. So who knows what is gonna happen.

    Great thread AmyDylan. Hugs @JBDamonM‌.

I think I updated that the balloon clouds worked out for LO's party. I did submit my ivf fees for income taxes. And I havent tried to drop that 5am bottle yet. Had my WTF via phone on Wednesday. Suggestions were one of three things if we had another 10 grand to burn: (which we dont)

    1. Try ivf again with our frozen sperm and a poor responder protocol with growth hormone thrown in for me. RE is not optimistic about this one.

    2. Use frozen sperm and donor eggs. Not for us. We wouldn't have bothered working so hard to use dhs sperm in that case.

    3. Purchase a gnrh pump on our own somehow from the states because it isnt licensed in canada, on our own use suprefact in it and put that on DH for a year and hope for another miracle. This may actually be our cheapest option and its the one DH wants to try.

We wouldn't be proceeding with our past clinic because we now live so far away. Our RE said if it was his wife he would take option 3 even though its unsupervised and off label. He said that we have to do what we need to to feel we've given it a shot if that's what we want. Ultimately he wasnt optimistic about any of it and doesn't want us to be financially ruined. As I said DH wants to pursue option 3 but I'm a pretty by the books gal and I am not sure about my comfort level or the logistics of it.

  • Thanks for this update thread, Mrs.AmyDylan.

big hugs to you, @JBDamonM.  I wonder if some therapy may help with your anger?  You have every right to be both angry AND sad about your dad & your various family/IL issues.  Just wondering if talking to a professional will help you manage the anger somehow, you know?

Not much to update on us.  I weaned M exactly 2 weeks ago and there hasn't been any issues.  He hasn't asked for it and I haven't had engorgement.  I still feel a bit sad about it, but it gets a little better each day.

We went through 2 months of 4 molars + 2 colds (mid-Jan -> mid-Mar). Thank goodness that is behind us.  But M is now drooling crazy so I think the canines are coming soon.  enjoying our quiet nights when M STTN.

M is now 16.5m and he only says 4 words. I am going to wait until he turns 18m and may get EI for speech eval.  He has no trouble understanding myself and DH - in 2 languages.  On top of that, he is learning sign language very fast these days.  WE signed to him for 10 months before he finally signed back (at 14m).  Now he learns a new sign every few days.

  • @JDamonM Hugs. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Update: It looks like DH got the job. The person he interviewed with today told him he got the job and would tell the person he interviewed with on Wednesday to proceed with the next steps. DH is still waiting to hear back from him. DH has agreed to open the doors to a conversation about the possibility of #3.

I would go with option 3
I am on off the universe person and I know I can take care of myself and when to seek help of you two know you are like that the pump could prob work. I bet others have done it and would research it. Which province do you live in?

  • I've not been on as much. 2 weeks ago my mom had a TIA (mini stroke) after years of neglecting her own care. Now we have a million med appts for follow up. She's OK physically in the short term but needs to make some lifestyle changes. Huge stressor.
A was sick last weekend and now is finally feeling better but entered a phase of being too distracted by everything to eat during the day. She was taking 6 oz bottles, no 2-3, maybe 4. Ugh. So, more frequent feedings, MOTN feedings, and weird sleep schedules all around.. She's also gone from army crawling to working on real crawling.
Still spotting after a week - saw RE yesterday for BW and US. Started on 14 days of BCP last night, hoping for IUI mid April. Sad that it's not really the timeline I was hoping for but I keep telling myself it's not the end of the world. I really hoped we would have some sort of natural cycle miracle.
So feeling a bit overwhelmed with appts and life these days, aren't we all though?
The good news is it's finally warm here and when A wakes up from her nap, we're heading out for a mommy daughter run then time with friends at a park later. And possibly a nap for me!
Hugs and good thoughts to all of you who need them, and I hope everyone has a good weekend!

@luvboston, thanks for your input. I knew that SOFT had pumps. I'm not in Ontario and the other problem is that women only need to be on a pump for the one month of their cycle for the same condition but to produce sperm my husband would need to be on it for at least 6-9m to produce sperm and them however long after that we TTC. The clinics that do have one or two pumps aren't currently willing to tie a pump up for that long on one patient.
