Morning Nap Strike

If any of you ladies have some guidance I would really appreciate it.

I'm working part time right now so Layla is in daycare for 4 hours each morning, but she refuses to nap there. Once we are home and she eats, she crashes for 3+ hours in the afternoon. She will wake up and stay up for about 2 hours then sleeps again for about 45 mins. She goes down for the night around 9.

I am worried that once I start full time again at the end of April she will still refuse to nap at daycare, be awake for 8+ hours, and be a sleepy mess.

Should I limit her afternoon naps? Put her to bed earlier? Any tips I can give daycare to get her to nap? How would you resolve this issue?

Thank you ladies!

Re: Morning Nap Strike

  • The last few days my LO has been fighting sleep like crazy in the morning and having longer after noon/evening naps. I kinda think it's his version of the 4mw cause otherwise his sleep isn't affected. I would just let her sleep and keep the bedtime routine the same, if she's tired early put her to bed Early but not if she's seeming happy. Maybe they are getting to a stage where they just need 2 naps, not 3.

  • Thank you ladies! I appreciate your input. I guess I will just let her do what she wants in regards to sleep. She seems happy as daycare even without naps.

  • I'd probably just wait and see if it even becomes a problem and cross that bridge when you come to it. Babies are pretty good at setting their nap schedules, especially as they get older.
