seating/chairs

This may be more of a question for BTDT moms. I'm looking for ideas for seating for LO. In the morning I have to sit her in her bouncer/swing while I make bottles. She's quickly outgrowing the seat and frankly doesn't like being in it anymore. I've thought about getting her her own "chair" for the living room. Something like this, but I worry that it might be too early for it. I don't want her falling off it, obviously. So for those who have older LOs,what did you do at this point with them? Should I lay her on the floor (she's not sitting unassisted yet)? I am trying to limit her time being on her back and I don't think she would tolerate tummy time without me being in the room cheering her on. I guess I could use the bumbo, but that would only work for a little while. Her legs are almost too chunky for it.
I should also add that she's recently been protesting the jumper. I think she got too used to someone holding her most of the time when Grandpa was here. I've tried the high chair too but the second she sees the bottle she starts fussing.

Any ideas? Or am I just thinking too much into this?

Not BTDT but that chair is adorable!

I either put LO in his walker or I'll make the bottle in the living room. I just lay him on the floor or let him sit. He does sit unassisted, so that doesn't help you, but in the morning when he's sleepy he doesn't do so hot, so I put his back against the chair/couch I'm sitting on and put my feet on either side of him. I also have to give him a toy or he squirms.

Same boat. He calms down by relaxing in his swing, I think he just likes the lay back cradle type hold of it.

But his little feet hang off the edge. He needs a little guy chair he can relax in so I can put the swing away.
  • LO Still likes the jumper, but when that and the swing fail, we put him in the pack and play propped up on a boppy pillow with toys surrounding him. Sometimes he rolls forward, other times he chills, but at least I know he's not rolling off somewhere :-)

  • We have this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A4B34IA/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1395335591&sr=1-8&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

It turns into a toddler chair, I like it a lot for when I am in the kitchen
  • I am having the same issue. We have the previously listed rockers and LO despises laying down so he is constantly trying to sit up and get out of it.

If I am in the kitchen, he goes in the high chair. If I am doing laundry, he goes in his exercauser. If I am upstairs, he lays in his crib. Essentially I switch it up whenever we are in the house. He also can not sit unassisted so that is why it is so difficult.

I would love to get him a bigger upright chair, but I think it would still have to have a harness.

  • We have an open floor plan, so I rotate between these: jumperoo, chair/bouncer, and the floor. DS sits up unassisted, but he also randomly throws himself back, so I put the boppy around him just in case. I also put toys and his play mat in front of him when he's sitting on the boppy to keep him entertained.

  • I have the same seat as @cabusbey, but DD doesn't like it that much anymore because she doesn't like being in anything really.  I put her down in her gym or in the walker or I sometimes let her sit by the loveseat or on the couch if I'm not going to be long and I'm going to be within visual range. She does sit unassisted, though.

  • DD just wants to be on the floor lately. She wants to explore and refuses to be contained. She's not crawling yet and I have to be close to her because she will faceplant.

  • Alexis fell out of her brother's chair last night. We were right there and caught her, but yeah she fell. She's sitting unassisted so I put her on the floor where she can see me while I do stuff in the kitchen. Before she was sitting, I would lay her on her back with a toy.

Sometimes. It all depends her mood. She's pretty cranky before she gets her bottle. I think maybe I'll try to put her in the pnp with a boppy around her. That way she's off the cold floor and can't get into anything if she decides to suddenly crawl.

that's what I would like to avoid. The thought of her falling and getting hurt terrifies me. Our house is old. So, we don't have an open concept. Unless she is right behind me in the kitchen I would still be around the corner from her while prepping for the morning. I've even tried getting up before her, but as soon as she hears me moving around she wants up.

  • Boppy, high chair, pack n play, floor with toys, RnP, play mat.

    We have this:
    https://m.target.com/p/summer-infant-3-in-1-activity-and-booster-superseat/-/A-13299988

It's wider than the bumbo, so chubby legs don't get stuck! She loves it.

  • I have the chair you posted and my lo would fall out of it after a period of time. He can sit unassisted but when he is sitting in that chair he leans over and would eventually fall out if I wasn't there to catch him. I know this because I take his monthly photos in that chair.
  • I wouldn't use the PB chair until LO is sitting unassisted and also can climb in and out of it on their own. What about a bobby pillow on the floor with LO sitting in it?

Until LO could sit unassisted I would either put him in the bumbo, rnp, jumper or crib or I would lay him down. Anything else seem
  • My oldest has a chair like that but didn't get it until she was over a year. Little guy just likes to be on the floor with his toys. Sometimes I will sit him up with pillows around in case he falls over.

I am trying to limit the jumper. I feel like it's holding him back on crawling. (*just a feeling, I offer no evidence)
