Hi all -

I'm exclusively breast feeding. I started to spot today (at just under 4 months), and it got me to thinking. For those that exclusively breastfed, how long till your periods came back?

wow I'm jealous of that! I Was hoping to go at least 6 months... I pump at work too, but the past week or so I have not been getting good output. I am now wondering if it's because my period was coming!

You will find the answers vary quite a bit from 4 months (that's about the earliest) to 2 years or more, depending on how long you BF and how often.

Edit: My guy is almost 4 months old and no sign of AF for me yet.

Dd is 13 months and is still nursing 5 times a day. She eats 2 meals a day and usually a snack. Af is nowhere in sight

8 months. And my son nursed ALL the time, including 3+ times a night until he was over nine months old. My friend, whose son was sleeping through the night at like 5 months, didn't get hers until 13 months. Sometimes it's just luck of the draw.

DS was about 21 months old when I got my first PPAF. Then we got pregnant right away that cycle and I had a m/c. I'm still waiting for my second PPAF and it's been over 7 weeks!

We are at 22 months and I still haven't gotten mine....which has been very hard for me because we have wanted to TTC #2 for quite a few months now. She finally started sleeping through the night at about 18 months and in the past month we have cut down to morning, before/after nap, and before bed so I'm hoping that will kick start things but who knows. I've found such a range in answers to this question - everyone is different!

I rarely post but had to comment on this one. My period came back at 6 weeks pp. this was about 4 days after my bleeding had ended from giving birth. I breastfeed and pumped until my son was 14 months. I was unlucky

DD is pushing 13 months, no PPAF yet. She nurses like a beast, never really took a paci and I didn't have to pump. I guess that might make a difference?

DS was the same & mine still came back at 12 weeks

DD1 pp was back at 45 days. DD2 is now 6 months and first pp was last month. Was hoping longer as this time I am ebfing and not even pumping and bottle feeding

My LO is 8 months and nurses 4-5x a day (I pump for some of those during the week). No sign of AF yet, though I am noticing more CM, sorry for TMI. Hoping that's not the precursor to AF's return.

With my first baby it didn't come until I completely weaned at 8 months. With this baby it hasn't returned yet. He is nursing 4-5x a day at almost 10 months.
