Possible C section

I just went in for my 32
Week appointment and my
Baby is still face up in breech position. My OB said that at my 36 week sonogram if she is still breech then I have to go in for a surgery consult for a c-section. They will not try to turn her because this is my first pregnancy and because of my age. I am a little nervous about this and of course haven't planned on having major surgery. Anyone else told this or had this happen?

Re: Possible C section

  • My baby has been frank breech since at least 20 weeks, and we most recently confirmed she still is on Monday at 31 weeks. If she stays put that way, I'll be having a c section (I also have the option of a version, which if successful would then result in induction, but I don't want to go that route). I am starting to get really comfortable with the idea of a c section. Which of course means that she will turn.

I would recommend that you try going to a chiropractor and find an acupuncturist that specializes in pregnancy. Also try to do some of the exercises on spinningbabies.com and mybreechbaby.com.
Think there was a breech post on here with other ideas a week or so ago.

  • Webster technique with a chiropractor or moxibustion with an acupuncturist. I used spinning babies and my baby is now head down- not sure if it was spinning babies- but it can't hurt!
  • My boy was also Frank breech and I had to have a c section. I have nothing to compare it to, but I don't think it's too bad so far. I am about 3 days out. There's pain, but you would have that either way. Just hard to change positions. I don't know how the rest of the recovery will go, but so far not bad. I think there are a few more restrictions also such as lifting and driving.

The restrictions on driving are only while on medication (narcotics) if I remember right. Lifting of course is because you've just had major abdominal surgery.

Mine was still frank breech at 30 weeks and I've been doing spinning babies.com techniques. If she still is at 33 weeks then I will have to get more aggressive. However I will
Not schedule a c section until I absolutely have to- they can turn at the last minue so I would rather go into labor and have them check then and determine than schedule anything ahead of time. And by id rather I mean that is my choice and not the doctors to make as breech alone does not put the baby at risk in labor. In fact most doctors used to be trained to deliver breech babies and now they are just trained to cut them out which is unfortunate. If I could have had a midwife I would have but I am high risk. I have weekly scans starting at 33 weeks anyways so there won't be a question of where she is! But I also really really really times a million want a natural birth and on top of that have a blood clotting antigen due to my lupus that makes surgery a bigger complication.
