Stalling

ugggghhh DS is driving us nutso with the stalling! Everything is taking forever, from getting his teeth brushed to getting him dressed to (the worst) getting him into bed. He is playing the selective hearing game which is so very annoying, basically ignoring us when we're telling him something he doesn't want to hear (like it's time for a diaper change). Anyone else's kiddo doing this?
On a positive, more AWish note, my baby boy is TWO today! And I'm pretty sure he should be a toddler model :) :

Re: Stalling

  • Yup. DD is a great at stalling. Especially at bedtime. She has to pray for each and every person she knows. It was cute at first but it has become a stalling tactic to avoid bedtime.

  • Happy birthday, W!

Big time stalling here which sometimes leads to mega tantrums. Our sleep training book is adamant about not giving in and keeping bedtime routine consistent even thru a tantrum. We did that for a week and the stalling seemed to get better when she realized we weren't going to change for her.

  • Thanks for sharing mamas! We are trying all sorts of different tactics, with varying success. Nice to know I'm not the only one that gets aggravated by it!
Thanks for the happy birthdays too. :)
  • Selective hearing? Is there any other kind? :( Getting out the door in the morning has turned into a huge stallfest. "We watch Cars? I put disc in." No, we're not watching movies before we leave for daycare, kiddo. "I need to play trains now." Nope, keep it moving. Tantrum ensues. I've been trying to head him off right after he brushes his teeth my having one of his favorite trains ready for the ride-- but it has to be before he thinks of something else first. I'll say, "Look, I found Patrick. Do you think he'd like to go for a ride in the car?" On good days, he's excited to see the toy and I can usher him out the door with the train. Other days he throws it. It's touch and go!

    Happy belated birthday!
