Favorite Maternity Clothes

I looked everywhere for our old post about our favorite maternity clothes. Then I accidentally posted in August 2014....oops.

I'm wearing these today and it reminded me to tell you guys about them.

I have these gauchos in brown and black and during my last pregnancy wore them every single day they were clean. The band is super soft and they're amazing postpartum (even with a c/s). I'm short and they're an odd length on me (I'm 5'0) but I don't give a flying F, they're the greatest lounge pants ever created. They have pockets and aren't tight at all. Maxi dresses don't work for me because I get hot in them and my thighs sweat, rub, and stick together..yuck. These are heaven sent.

Re: Favorite Maternity Clothes

  • Those are cute! Right now, I live in ON pajamas bottoms at home, but haven't found anything I am uber excited about for outside of the house. I want clothes that will stay put and leave me alone. So far, I spend all freaking day messing with whatever I wear. Pulling pants up, shirts down, etc. argh!!!

I'm 5'4" and maxi dresses suck on me - I'm too short to pull them off. And I'm cheap. I'm not paying that much money (or any amount??) on a dress that I would have to come home and hem. Pants I will hem. Not dresses.

  • My favorite right now have to be the Old Navy maternity yoga pants.  I do have a pair of gauchos that I got in a secondhand box from eBay and have started putting them in rotation, and can't wait for it to warm up enough to wear them more often!

  • I think I might order a few pairs of these more for the last few weeks and post c section. Last time I had like one comfy pair of pants to wear post op and had to go buy a bunch of cheap yoga pants from wally world.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • I have a maxi dress from Old Navy that I love. I'm also short (5'3") and it works now with high heeled books, but I'm going to ask my mom to hem it for the summer.

I have a pair of black pants that I bought from Burlington Coat Factory that are so comfortable. They are full panel and the material has a little bit of a stretch to them. I wear them to work 2-3 times every week.

My Old Navy full panel khaki's were pretty comfortable too until they got too tight in the legs all of a sudden. DH just insists on running our dryer on high heat and that doesn't work with 100% cotton clothes.

  • When I'm just around the house I basically live in my husbands boxers and a maternity cami. I haven't found a maxi dress that I like enough to spend the money on yet but totally need to look for some gauchos! I'd wear those all the time anyway.

  • I just got 2 super cute maxi dresses at TJMaxx for $17 each! They're not maternity, but flowy/stretchy enough that it won't matter. I even pulled the belly part way out to be sure I would have room to grow. I'm 5'7" and they are plenty long. And if you're shorter, $17 is worth it to hem them up.

  • I bought a few pairs of the JCrew maternity pants for work, but wear them almost every day now.  They are super expensive so I almost held off, but I bought them during a 25% off sale and I'm glad I took the risk.  I know I can wear them after the baby is born until I'm back into my regular clothes.  The pants have really maintained their shape so far and haven't been stretched out of shape like some of my less well made maternity clothes. I hate panels with my short torso, so I really like that these don't have them.

I have been wearing these with shirts from Target and Old Navy, so when you combine the two my outfit isn't too overpriced ;)

  • Um mm how about anything clean in my DH s closet? During the summer I do dresses for the air flow. I know all about the sweaty thing but I use lady's anti monkey butt for the creases and what not and I stay dry! I'm a bigger girl and then the air flow or I will die! Seriously!
  • I've been rocking yoga pants too. Most days I don't leave the house but on weekends I have one pair of regular pants that were to big to begin with and now fit.

However did buy two adorable nursing dresses, I'll probably wear one to my baby shower and live in them all summer.

  • The ON side rouched tank is the best thing I have ever owned. Ever. I want them all.

  • I love my ON side rouched tanks too. I need more of them. Basically I've had a ton of good fortune at ON, but I super love my black skinny-cut full panel black dress pants from Destination Maternity. They are the only thing I've bought there, but every time I pull them on they fit beautifully which I'm convinced is magic since I'm definitely bigger on the backside than I was when I first got them.

Ok @ghostof5letters, I have a pair of those from my last pregnancy and hated them. they are comfy, but what in the hell kind of shirt do you wear with them? I feel like nothing works...a loose top just makes me look like a bag lady but a slim fitting one looks funny because of the shirred waist on the pants. Am I just fashion-challenged?

One of my favorites is a maternity wrap dress from Gap. So flattering and also super-comfy; I'd almost even wear it around the house except then I'd feel like a 50s housewife or something.

I'm just gonna have to buy a bigger strapless bra, which I'm sure will be fun times.

I have a few I got from Kmart and F21. And nomorerack.com sells maxi skirts and I loooove them.

  • Most if not all of maternity clothes for this pregnancy, and with DS were from motherhood and pea in the pod. (I get all pea in the pod on sale or clearance) for work I rotate my black pants, leggings with a tunic, jeans, and skinny pants. Since it's been warm for awhile, I've thrown in my maxi skirts and sandals. I love that my school is more laid back when it comes to wardrobe, or I'd be in trouble.

Motherhood Maternity's leggings. I LIVE in them. Easy to dress up and down, stupid comfortable. They work with boots, flats, sandals, sneakers. Plus they accentuate my bump so I'm a big fan.

I'd kill for a long enough maxi dress.....

I, too, am loving my leggings from motherhood! I'd never worn leggings before this pregnancy but I am now converted! I was already thinking about how I could maybe wear these leggings forever (trim off some of the full panel postpartum?) because they are so soft and comfy.

My latest zulily order came in the mail last night - with maternity jeans that have an adjustable waist band. They are like kid jeans with the pull tab/button inner waist band. They just may now be my favorites! If I can cinch them down around my hips, maybe they will stay up better! I'm hopeful so far - I was sitting cross-legged on the bed and got up with no downward movement of pants. It's looking promising!

ETA oh! AND they have belt loops, which makes my dog trainer heart soar with happiness! I use belt loops every stinkin day and have missed them tremendously! It doesn't hurt that they have cute stitching and some actual style either.
  • I've been hitting up ON clearance on line and have gotten some good deals. So not impressed with MM quality. Hole in a sweater I washed twice. Hoping to hit motherhood outlet next weekend when traveling. Things are getting desperate!
  • If maxi dresses don't work for you, try one of these:
    https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5868&vid=1&pid=633374142

Super soft, stretchy, knee length skirts for super cheap.

I already have the gray and the black, and I love them - I might have to get the blue, too.  I expect them to be perfect for post-partum, too.

I have several of this style skirt that are non maternity- the waistband just folds over. Also from old navy. I have worn them during my last pregnancy and they are awesome. I just fold them down under the belly.

  • I love pink blush maternity clothes. I have a few tops I got from zulily and they are awesomely long, stretchy, and comfortable.

Also, a shout out to Old Navy in Madison. They finally got maternity clothes!
  • I'm so kicking myself for not saving my maternity shirts I had before.  The only ones I can find now are super see through cheap maternity shirts which is driving me crazy!!  When I'm home, I live in yoga pants.  Comfort comes first!

I've never heard of PinkBlush but I just found myself on their website and LOVING it. Thank you! My gap tops are too short and won't make it the entire pregnancy

  • I always change into yoga pants when I get home, but for every day wear, I love these:

I'm so thankful that I don't have to dress up for work. I hated my maternity dress clothes last time. I just rotate jeans now.
