Color me confused..

So I went to the doctors the other day and they surprised me with an ultra sound. I actually got lucky and little man was being very good and was able to get some really good shots of him.

The confusing part for me is afterwards they told me is 97 percentile as well as already 5.5 lbs. I know with have GD, as well as development of Pre- E those babies can be rather large. When going over the ultra sound facts the doctor hesitated when she was reading off his bone growth. Then looked at me saying we may have his due date wrong.

Is that even possible? She already told me I won't be going past 37 weeks because he is already ranging 4 weeks ahead of scheduled. I'm only 30 weeks and in two more weeks will start going twice a week for more growth ultra sounds for 4 weeks.

Please tell me I'm not giving birth to Godzilla.

I'm thinking he has hit a growth spurt and just got a head start. Such an over achiever, I don't sound scared at all, right? LOL

When they do weight on an u/s it can be off by quite a bit. I think there is a thread about it (can't remember for sure). Good luck

There are multiple threads about the baby measuring large/ahead and the errors associated with ultrasound estimates.

Could your due date be off? Of course, if they are basing on LMP only. Did you ever have a dating scan to confirm EDD? Or was everything on track up until this point? Is your fundal height measurement also that far ahead? If it's just this one ultrasound measurement, I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. Wait and see what follow-up scans show.

It is likely that either the u/s was off or your due date is wrong. If they have basing it only on your LMP and you have irregular periods then yes it is very likely wrong. Did they do an early dating ultrasound (before 10 week) to determine a due date as this is, I believe, one of the most accurate times for an ultrasound in terms of dating. Of course the most accurate is knowing when you ovulated- for example the ob is going by my LMP which is 3 days difference in dates from my actual ovulation that I was tracking. Obviously for me this isn't a big deal (and I get a bonus 3 days of gestation before they begin bugging me to induce) but you can imagine if you have long irregular cycles what a difference it can make.

They are saying I won't go past 37 weeks due to the GD, Pre- E and high blood pressure. Sure his weight is also a factor but far as going early its due to my health more than his.
