Terrible Gas

So in the past few weeks my DS has started getting terrible gas at night. Wakes him up screaming. Gas drops and gripe water did nothing. We went to the doctor and decided to switch him to Alimentum. He had been on frozen breastmilk and had shown some sensitivity to dairy. So we made the switch and the gas has gotten better but not completely gone. What else can I do?

On another note our sleeping has gone to hell. I am not even sure how to break the bad sleeping habits we have gotten into. He wants held all night....

Re: Terrible Gas

  • When L had horrible gas problems, we realized it was due to constipation....how regularly is he pooping? Formula fed babies are prone to getting constipation from the iron added to some formulas. (L is just special in her own way since she is EBF and constipated, not as common for EBF babies)

His gas started while EBF and he was pooping regularly. Things have slowed down since the switch to formula

Watch a you tube video on baby gas massage. When I do bicycle legs it does nothing. I have been massaging at every diaper change since 8 wks and it has helped a lot. We usually get some gas out with the leg lifts and DS loves it. Our issue was the formula. Now that he is on Gerber Soothe the gas is much improved.

How did your Dr diagnose a dairy sensitivity? I feel like they often jump to that conclusion without proper testing.

They didnt do any real restrung. While EBF the more dairy I ate the worse he got.
