Into but not really sure if we class as Secondary IF...

My DW and I are trying for our second child together. Because of DW's age (she was 40) for DD we used her eggs that she'd had frozen six years previously, and managed to have DD after just one course of IVF. We went for IVF straight away, because our Doctor told us we had practically no chance of conceiving naturally not only because of DW's age, but because she had had 60 of her eggs frozen, and had donated 3 times previously, so she had far less eggs than she would have normally had.

We are now trying another child, and again have went straight for IVF, but as DW has a small amount of irremovable scar tissue on her womb, her ability to carry a child is severely depleted and our doctor has recommended that if our first session of IVF does not work, that we should consider a surrogate.

So, I'm not sure if we count as Secondary IF, or even truly IF, though we are having assisted conception.

SO- I was primary infertility too (MFI). I don't think anyone side eyed me for primary. What matters is you are facing infertility issues and have a child already (basically two key ingredients here). Welcome and good luck with IVF! I truly hope it works first try!!!

Welcome...you would meet our general criteria. Being that you have a child and are facing difficulty in having another. I think you have caught us all off guard a bit as we are used to the wife being the one to reach out. So keep that in mind as you read through the posts. Anyway, wishing you the best with the IVF. There arr a few women who have been on here that have used surrogates, and one I think is looking into that possibility.

There are several ladies that have been through and/or are going through the IVF process, I am sure they would be glad to answer any questions you may have. Mostly we just offer support on the many difficult situations that come along with Secondary IF.

I know, i know, I use the TTC after 35 as well, and I'm the only man. My wife used to use a website similar to this back when she was trying to have DSD, and received massive backlash at the fact that she was single trying to have a child, so it's put her off. But she has no problem with me using it, talking about her and DSD and DD.

It's all good, I'm used to crazy - I have a wife who's on hormone drugs, a step-daughter who seems to have hit her teens a year too early and an almost two year old daughter - our house has been named 'The Madhouse' by anyone who's ever been there in the past six months.

Hi, welcome. You might want to also consider introing on the 3rd party reproduction board, you might be able to get a lot of input on that board regarding the potential surrogacy.

I was thinking about suggesting this, but wasn't certain if there was a board for that. I kinda stick to this board only. I had the same feeling of discomfort on another board just for having a child and having IF...so glad I found this board.

@Kai&Allie‌ - I just thought you should know that some of our conversations can be geared toward the feminine...as you have probably noticed from some of the previous comments.

Welcome OP! Good luck! One of my friends has been a surrogate 2 or 3 times & actually owns her own business now doing it the way that she had wished it was done when she was a surrogate. If you guys have questions, I'd be more than happy to PM you her contact info.
