According to LMP, 7 weeks 2 days. Had U/S yesterday and measured 5 weeks 4 days..?

Has anyone else experienced this? Went into ultrasound yesterday expecting to see HB, but because I measured at just 5 weeks 4 days there was no HB. But, everything else...gestational sac and yolk all seemed totally normal given what I'm measuring at. According to LMP I 'should' be 7 weeks..
The nurse said that I could've just ovulated way later in my cycle than I thought.
Anybody else way off on how far along they thought they were??
Hoping and praying it was just late ovulation!

Going back for repeat u/s on Monday (6wks 3 days) to re-measure and I hope I hope I hope to see the HB!

Hope you get good news on Monday. You definitely could have just ovulated later than you thought if you weren't charting and don't know exactly when you ovulated. Good luck.

I got my BFP on Feb 22nd...LMP Jan 26th. So the fact that I got a BFP almost 4 weeks ago..means I would've been barrrrrrely pregnant..? Maybe my hcg just rose quickly at like a week pregnant in order to get the positive?
Anyway I'm sure I'm maybe just over thinking all of this! Hard not to worry!
I really appreciate all the 'no biggie' comments! Helps to ease my mind knowing others have kinda experienced the same!

I had my ultrasound at 7w2d according to my LMP, but baby measured 6w3d. The ultrasound tech said everything looked great and wasn't concerned at all.

I should be 7w today based on LMP but based on my sono I had Monday I'm 6w1d so it's only off by 5 days.. But it happens!

either you ovulated later or baby is not doing well. i know, it's not the puppies and rainbows responses of everybody else. since you don't know when you ovulated all you can do is wait and see. if you did ovulate around the time that the LMP calculator says that you did, then it would be a bad sign that baby is measuring so far behind and will likely stop growing at some point. chances are though that you ovulated later-since very few women actually ovulate by the text book date.

@BebeKelly‌ Only time will really tell. But if you were 3.5 weeks (earliest you'd get a BFP) on February 22, you should be 7 weeks now. To be 5w4d, you wouldn't have had a BFP until sometime around March 4. Sometimes these things work out ok, but I will say that over a week is quite a ways to be behind. I don't want to give you false hope. There's still some hope, but also be aware that you may get bad news.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Limbo sucks.

yeah, this is true. being that far off on dates is not typically a good thing. though, if you got a BFP on 2/22 it is possibly that you could have been 7dpo and showing a positive test. it would be extremely early and rare, but it could happen. 8/9dpo is really as early as BFP's come, but stranger things have happened.

i do hope that your dr has you scheduled for a follow up in the near future.

I had that happen with my last pregnancy. I went in for u/s thinking I was around 7 weeks, but the u/s showed baby around 4 weeks. I had just ovulated late. I had a suspicion because my period was two weeks late before I even got a faint positive on the test. They did betas and another u/s and everything was fine. I hope it is something similar.

I temped and had ultrasounds (due to being on fertility meds), so I know when I ovulated. FX for you that you just ovulated late!

I wasn't tracking ovulation so really I have no idea!
My BFP on Feb 22nd was really faint also, but def positive.
I had been on birth control before this and this was probably only my 3rd or 4th cycle, the nurse said that can play a part in maybe having a different than norm ovulation date.
Just because I'm such a worrier, I took a pregnancy test last night and it was a instant positive, really dark too!
So question, if the baby had stopped growing..say at the 5th week (so 12 days ago) would my hcg already have declined?

HCG takes a while to decline. When I miscarried, I was 7.5 weeks and baby measured 6 weeks and had a heart rate in the 90s. We went back 2 weeks later and they confirmed that baby was gone. I still wasn't bleeding yet; I started spotting a few days later, actual bleeding started a little less than a week after we got the official m/c diagnosis. It was about 2 weeks after diagnosis that I actually naturally miscarried. It took about 6 weeks for my HCG levels to decrease to single digits. (A week after m/c was diagnosed, my levels were 16,000+.)

no. baby could stop growing now or next week or in two weeks. that's why all you can do is wait and see what happens.

also, here comes more opposite of puppies and rainbows: the baby can pass away but your body not know it, so it believes it is still pregnant and will act that way with hormones and symptoms and the whole 9. it could not realize on it's own that it needs to flush the embryo or it could take some time. it's why i don't put stock in symptoms = healthy pregnancy. missed miscarriages happen.

since your LMP was january something (i forget the date now, but i was looking at the calendar earlier over this), and you got your BFP on 2/22, then the latest you could have O'd would have been 2/15 (or whatever date to make 2/22 = 7dpo, i think it was 2/15). which means AF wouldn't have been due for another 3-9 days, depending on how long your typical LP is. like pp said, the earliest you could be when you get a BFP is 3w5d, but let's humor this and say that on 2/22 you were just 3w0d. that would make today 6w4d. if we go by 2/22 = 3w5d then today would be 7w1d.

does this all kind of make sense?

regardless, like i said earlier, i hope that your doctor has a follow up scheduled to check on the growth of the baby. you can hear a hb at 6w, and i believe our resident u/s tech in my mom's group said that you can actually hear the hb at 5w6d. at that point there should be a sac and a fetal pole.

My last pregnancy they did what they thought was a 9 week ultrasound and it showed 6 weeks with no HB yet. Three weeks later at my real 9 week ultrasound everything was fine. This time we were trying and I got a positive at 3w2d. Hope this helps!

I was supposed to be 7 weeks 2 days but after ultrasound am now at 6 weeks 2 days. Doctor said I probably just ovulated late and not to worry since I too had just gotten off of birth control within the last few months.

This happened to me in October. I went in for what should have been my 8 wk ultrasound based on LMP. Baby measured 6w3d, but had a heartbeat. My doc said I must have just ovulated late and was not concerned. So they rescheduled me for another 8 week appt 10 days later. 3 days before that appt I started spotting, went to the ER and saw the baby and heartbeat again. Again, I was told everything was fine. I went to my 2nd 8wk appt and there was no longer a heartbeat : ( My opinion was that something was off with my pregnancy to begin with bc the day I got my bfp would have been the day they were saying I ovulated 'late', which is impossible. I am only sharing this story bc I was completely unprepared of the loss. All the doctors kept telling me it would be fine and in the end it wasn't. Based on the stories of all other ladies, it looks like there is a really good chance you just o'd late, especially if you cycle hadn't regulated bc you were on BC.

I would seriously not worry! I'm sort of in a similar situation as you. According to my LMP I should be 8 weeks pregnant, but i'm really only 6w4d today. I went in for the first time when I thought I was 5 weeks pregnant based on my LMP- he doctor did a trans/vag ultrasound and didn't see anything. They did a blood test and my betas were 230- he said I was 3 weeks along. I went back 1 week later and we saw the gestational sac as it should look during the 4th week. I went in today (2 weeks later) and I saw the baby and it's little heart beat

I measured at 6 weeks 4 days- progressing exactly as it should. Based on all of this I ovulated on day 26 of my cycle! I'm pretty sure I had sex every day the month of February, and I don't chart- so I really had no idea when I conceived. I'd say the only cause for worry would be if you knew for sure you ovulated much earlier than what your dates are adding up to now. As long as everything keeps developing normally I wouldn't worry at all. Best wishes to you and your family.

I talked to my Midwife last night, she said there's nothing to do but wait..
Physically, I feel fine. Mentally, I'm kind of a wreck!

Update!
A little bit of puppies and rainbows news from today's repeat ultrasound.. There was definitely growth!! There was a fetal pole that measured at 6 weeks 1 day! The Doppler didn't pick up the sound of a HB, but we and the nurse definitely saw some good flutters a few times! And, I know not to freak out since at only 6 weeks hearing the heartbeat is a rarity..
I still think it's so odd that I'm almost two weeks off of my LMP 'due date', but I'll take the positive results from today's appointment!!
Just hoping and praying still that this little one continues to grow, grow and grow some more!

This happened to me! On Friday, I was (supposed to be) 7.5 weeks pregnant. I had a slight pinkish tinge when I went to the bathroom the other day, so I called the doctor to see what I should do. They sent me in for bloodwork, which came back normal according to my bloodwork a few weeks ago. As a precaution, they sent me in for an ultrasound to rule out any other issues. What should have been a 7.5 week baby was just an amniotic sac and yolk measuring 5.5 weeks. She told me not to worry and that I could be off with my dates. I go back on Friday for a repeat ultrasound.

I'm happy that you got good news! This gives me hope.

Something else to consider is late implanters. I knew when I Od with LO1 since I was on fertility treatments and did a trigger shot and that little guy was 6 days off at our first u/a, then caught up two days. So his due date was 4 days after it should have been with knowing when I Od.

I am so glad that everything is looking up! I just want to share my story really fast (don't worry it has a happy ending):

I had my son in May 2012. When he was 4 months old, I found out that I was pregnant again, with no period in between. I don't remember the dates, but I tested one day and had a very bright positive. I scheduled an appt ASAP b/c I was worried about the timing of the pregnancy, and had no idea how far along I was. A week later, we saw a sac with nothing in it measuring at 4 weeks and 5 days (meaning that I got a bright BFP at 3 weeks 5 days). I was worried about having nothing in there, and my doctor said to come back in 2 weeks so I was expecting to measure 6 weeks and 5 days, but was only measuring at 5 weeks 2 days. Seem bad, right?

I went back 2 weeks later and baby was measuring 7 weeks (almost on track with last u/s). I went in at the regular 4 week interval and baby had grown 4 weeks.

Jump to 20 weeks: Baby is measuring 2-3 weeks behind, has severe IUGR and literally NO water. The first specialist we went to couldn't even do the amnio because there was so little fluid that she didn't want to risk it and sent us to the med center. The baby also had echogenic bowels and echogenic foci on hear heart. We went weekly to the high risk doctor, and I had a full term baby weighing a whopping 3 pounds, 10 ounces, less than the 1 percentile and severe IUGR.

I just tell you this to urge you and your doctor to stay on top of things. I always wonder if we would have caught something sooner if we would have taken the wacky growth at the beginning into account.

@BebeKelly I got my BFP on February 26th, which was day 30 of my cycle. I had spotting two days before that suddenly stopped which prompted me to test. The spotting (which normally begins right before my period) could have been implantation bleeding which would make my ovulation a week later that I originally thought. I have thought of every possible scenario and I'm freaking myself out. I was so upset and thought all was lost at the first ultrasound because my other two kiddos always measured ahead. However, my first ultrasound with those two was at 9 weeks, so maybe 7 weeks was too early for me. I will find out tomorrow.
