Yes. Been a while since I was waxed, I usually just shave. I bought a home kit the other day and haven't used it for that area yet, but tried my armpits and was seriously disappointed. It's over before you know it though! A little itchy growing it back IMO, and probably especially so if you aren't used to it.
I always do, since forever. In fact I did not use a razor in my life. Also I do it by myself but I am so used to it. I now have very little hair and been going to laser treatments to get rid of them. I love it like that and it is clean and comfartable. However it can feel sweaty and sticky first couple of days if you are not used to the feeling. Try it, if you don't like it you won't do it again.
I got Brazilians done regularly before I had DS. I think I had my last one when I was 8 months pregnant. I actually have an appointment to get one done on Friday and I can't wait - its a jungle down there!
I usually get them done before going on vacation to keep things maintenance free. The very first one I ever got, though, the woman did a terrible job and I got red patches, white bumps, and scabs. Not pretty. I tried it again somewhere else and had no reaction the second time. It doesn't feel great getting it done, but it's worth it!
I have been getting it done once a month for 8 years and I'm in same shape as RoosterWrangler. If I could get a wax, eyebrows threaded, a spray tan and my hair colored I would feel like a new woman BUT aint nobody got time for that!
Once you do it you will never want to shave again.
Try to find a salon that does "sugaring", it is MUCH less painful IMO. It is done exactly like normal waxes but the "wax" is made of sugar.
The thing about sugar waxes is they don't lessen the hair if you want to keep doing brazilian. Paraffin waxes may be a little more painful but if you keep using them you have less and less hair each time.

I usually get one every 6 weeks or so. I don't think I could ever go back to just shaving now that I've been doing it so long. My esthetician uses the sensitive wax and my skin is usually back to normal by the next day. It hurts much less than you think it would - except when I was in the later stages of pregnancy - then it hurt like a bitch.
The first one will take the longest and be the most painful, but it's very temporary. Do it - I don't think you will regret it. Piece of cake after having a baby!
I take care of this on my own for reasons of convenience as well as frugality. Where I live, it's nearly $60 a pop. I can't fathom paying that on a regular basis (or ever, really).
I would love to do this but I'm nervous. I don't really know why, I don't think I'm afraid of the pain so I don't know what it is.
Kind of related story: At my last job there were a bunch of us talking about Brazilians and sending around an email with different deals and coupons for local places. A woman we worked with (who is incredibly nosy and kind of obnoxious) wouldn't leave us alone about it. I told her I could forward it to her but that I wasn't sure if she could use it since she had short hair. She got bright red, looked totally shocked, and stormed off in a huff. Our manager came over to talk to us and scold us for sending around emails that were so "personal" and "lewd" and that it was "inappropriate to discuss such things at work." None of us knew what the hell she was talking about. Turns out, the coworker assumed we meant Brazilian waxes but we were really talking about Brazilian blowout treatments for your hair! She thought I was assuming she had short pubes when I said hair, hahahahaha. No wonder she was weirded out but I still think it's funny that she actually told on us!

Interesting I had no idea! Good to know
