Are there any moms who used to smoke marijuana before they were pregnant? And if so do you plan on returning to recreational use at any point?
I started smoking when I was a cancer patient to help with the side effects form treatment. I liked it so I continued to smoke. Once I found out a baby was on board I stopped. I'm BF now, and will be until Quinn is a year old. I won't be smoking anytime time soon.
I'm just not sure if I will ever smoke again. For sure I won't ever smoke when I have the baby around, ever. It would only be at times when she is sleeping over at my moms or DH and I are out and won't be home for hours.
I know by posting this I will be judged, and that's ok. I'm a good mom so far, I just want to hear your thoughts if you are in the same boat.

My BIL is a police officer. A routine traffic stop gone bad because of drugs lead to him being shot twice and his back up officer being killed. I would not want to associate myself or my family with the types of people who would benefit from illegally purchasing drugs of any kind.
I will never forget any details if that night or the tense days that followed until that person was caught during a second shoot out with officers in another state. I know the average recreational user doesn't think about this part of drugs. Although my BIL has recovered and returned to work, we were all forever changed by that night.
This comment bothered me, too. Maybe I'm reading into it but it's just kind of weird that you say "so far".
As far as the pot goes, if it's legal in your state do what you want but if it's illegal my advice would be to stay as far away from it as possible. It would just lead to trouble. You're a mom now, every decision you make affects your LO.
I guess I just don't understand the lure of it. I get it when you're young and experimenting. I really get it when you are sick and using it medicinally. I just don't get why an adult woman with a sweet baby would still want to feel that high. No judgement, I just don't understand it. Maybe it's because I just never got into it, but I have known people who have and it definitely lead them into harder drugs.
It has been many many moons since I have had pot (prob 18 years)...but the stuff we got was pretty potent. After one hit I could not function. Walking was next to impossible for me. I did not care for it because I felt I had no control over it. I understand it is not like that with everyone.
Another difference is alcohol is sold legally in or from sealed containers. You know what you're getting. You never know what marijuana can be laced with and the potency varies as PP's have said. There's a HUGE difference between the two if you ask me.

My H and I smoked pot on the regular before we got married (7 years ago). I haven't since then but he still does occasionally. We also live in a state where it's legal now (and his dad had his medical card before, so he bought it off of his dad).
