LO not really interested in baby food anymore?

LO used to have a fruit for bfast, veggie for lunch and veggie for dinner of different varieties and loved them. Her amount of BM has also gone down by 8 oz (still has 20-24oz a day) too. This week she hasn't finished all of this and really not interested in it for dinner. Anyone else experiencing this? Could she just be bored with purees? She's had some table food like rice, mushy veggies, breads when we eat out on the weekends. She's always been a good eater. Also should note she's been pooping a lot during the day (4x) when before it used to only be once or twice at most per day.

  • Sounds like she's either bored with purées or possibly has a little tummy bug. Maybe try more finger foods, but as long as she's getting enough BM I would go easy with them for a few days and see if her pooping goes back to normal.

  • Have you tried using baby food pouches and letting LO feed her self? I know my LO is in a stage of do everything himself, he much rather feed himself finger foods, or the pouch, than have me give feed him from a spoon.

  • DD does not have much interest in purees at all anymore.  She prefers to feed herself most of the time.  (Sniff, sniff)

  • DS1 went through this when he cut a really bad tooth. For about a week before he refused all solids, purees or finger food. You can try finger food but if that doesn't work it's probably just a phase (I feel like that is the answer to everything!)

  • could be teething, my LO is not interested in eating when he's teething, or tired….

I'd definitely try more finger foods. We did purees for a few weeks and then went the BLW route. My little guy can eat pretty much anything on his own and means mealtimes are much easier. Try some finger foods and see how it goes. Just let her play with it even and be patient. Let her see you eat it too.

  • He gets a lot of table food at home but daycare sent a note home yesterday that he's hitting their hands away and trying to steal the other kids' food - sometimes even waiting like a dog under the snack table LOL  So I told them to feel free to give him some of the regular breakfast and lunch as long as it's appropriate and then try to supplement with baby food.  I say that only because my one regret about daycare is their menu.  It's not great and I'd like to get more fruits and veggies in him than their regular menu offers.

@elmoali, my daycare (in home place) will feed my LO, too, but I'd like to incorporate some healthier stuff also. What are you planning on doing? I'm thinking I need to start packing her some food. Ugh.
  • @Nix55 I'll be honest - I don't stress about it TOO much but I'll likely send in yogurts for the week and ask that they be fed with breakfast (or some days the breakfast isn't appropriate yet like cold cereal and milk) or I'll send pouches or steamed veggies to go with lunch.  Nothing elaborate.

  • Its a bug. She woke up today not her normal happy self and has had explosive poo. At home today with DH. Moved her appt to tomorrow just in case. Thanks ladies, I think it might also be that she is wanting more finger foods and self feed so I want to step that up now.
