High-Risk Pregnancy

Intro--Lovenox Mama (previous PE)

DH and I found out over the weekend that we are expecting baby #2!!! We are beyond thrilled as we had been trying for 6+ months. DS is 14 months old. We are so excited for him to be a big brother!!

I am considered high risk this pregnancy because I suffered a pulmonary embolism and was hospitalized when DS was just 10 days old. It was a very scary experience, but I have seen many doctors (OB, Hematologist, Pulmonologist) that say there is no reason to believe I can't have another successful pregnancy. I will just need to see my OB, Perinatologist and Hematologist more often. I also have to give myself lovenox injections daily as well.

  • Welcome!  I am also on Lovenox as I had severe pre-e with placental abruption with DD.  I have been doing the injections for about 10 weeks now and I have to say they are not terrible!  I always feel great when I find a 'numb' spot that doesn't hurt too bad!  Good luck to you!

  • I am 21 weeks and have been doing Lovenox injections since I was 3 weeks (found out VERY early). I had a blood clot in my brain and my arm and am also considered high risk. Especially after having to have brain surgery. I have seen three different OBs including a high risk OB, neurologist, neurosurgeon and my regular OB has been in close contact with hematologist and all are saying things are good. But def go with your gut instinct. At first, I didn't feel comfortable being pregnant with my history but now I am completely at ease after seeing the high risk OB.

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND STAY POSITIVE!
  • Welcome.  I am in the same boat...check out the Lovenox Buddies thread.  We seem to be pretty active through that one :)
