Hey VBAC and TOLAC mamas! Just wanted to see how you are all doing. Any big issues with your VBAC plans? What are you most excited about with your VBAC? What is making you freak the freak out these days?
I'll start. I'm doing really good! Have a doula in training lined up, will schedule our hypnobirthing classes next week, and my midwife thinks baby is in LOA position!!!! So excited about being able to labor in the birthing tub! Freaking out a but bc I just learned that my hospital will stop letting mamas VBAC after July, so I'm kinda nervous that it might not be the VBAC haven that I thought it was. But the midwives and OBs that I've seen have been amazing! Also learned that the OBs like to have a VBAC mom deliver by 40 weeks and going to 41/42 would be pushing it, but whatever. No one is forcing me into surgery wo a valid medical reason!
Nothing seeming to get in the way as of right now. I'm freaked out that things won't work out and I'll just end up in the same situation I was with DS1, though. Only 29+5, so still TONS of time, but there's so much surrounding my due date that if LO doesn't come early/on time, I'm super toast.
Well, at the last appointment I had (two weeks ago) my doctor said since LO has been in the same head down position for months, she doesn't think he will move. That's definitely a necessity for VBAC. She said if he happened to flip, she would attempt a version if I wanted one. I'm just going to hope it doesn't come to that. I've been having BH this pregnancy, which I didn't have with DS1. I'm also hoping that is a positive sign for going into labor on my own. My doctor said I should be able to labor in the tub or wherever I want, because they can wirelessly monitor me. Yay! I was induced last time, and therefore mostly confined to the bed. Overall I feel good about my possible VBAC. I guess I just worry, as most of us probably do, about the very tiny risk of uterine rupture or something else going wrong during the attempt. I have have family and friends who were successful at VBAC though, and I do realize that is the case more often than not. Maybe when it gets closer I will freak out more, but for now I feel more excited than anything else!
So far everything is looking good for my VBAC. My midwives keep telling me that I am a perfect candidate for VBAC, which is always reassuring. I'm just trying hard to remind myself that the likelihood of things happening the exact same way as last time is really slim. I'm worried that I'll go through labor and pushing again and still have to get c-section.
But I'm meeting with my doula tomorrow and I'm really excited to have that extra support this time. I think that will make a huge difference. I am bummed that my hospital does continuous monitoring for VBACs as well as having to have an IV. But I'll put up with it if I can have my VBAC.
I would think that all hospitals do continuous monitoring as that is the key sign of uterine rupture. Ask your hospital about a wireless fetal monitor so you can move around while lsboring
My only obstacle is that I have to go into labor on my own before my due date to have a VBAC. Due to my blood disorder I can't go late. So. I'm getting myself all worked up about that. Will be taking all suggestions for natural labor inducing tips when the time gets closer! Sex and eggplant parm are high on the list of things I'm looking forward to.
I am excited to try for a VBAC this time. My hospital won't let me go past my due date so i'm hoping that Baby 2 comes just right before! also, they also highly suggest that i have an epidural so that if they need to do an emergency c-section that they are all set to go. I'm ok with that, as i want everything to go as smoothly as possible. Just recently someone i knew had a uterus rupture during labor and ended up in intensive care and the baby in the NICU at U of M. They both are doing well but it hit home that it can happen. I'm trying to keep and open mind and stay positive. Good Luck Ladies!!

This is not true. Check with your care provider to make sure but not all of them require continuous monitoring.
I have a doula and supportive OB. Everything is good. The only thing that could screw up my plans would be developing pree again, but so far no signs of that. Even if I did develop pree, the OB is willing to do a light induction.
Edit: My OB is fine with going until 41 weeks and do a light induction at that time if no baby. I am ok with this since most of my research indicates chances of vbac go down and risks of complications go up significantly starting after 41 weeks.

Look into dates...ie the fruit. I think it is recommended about 6 a day starting at 35 weeks.

Hi everyone,
I have never checked in with the vbac ladies bc I was waiting for my sizing u/s last week. My first son was born via c/s bc he was high risk for shoulder dystocia. He is still very broad with a nice, large, round head. Lol. I was hoping this baby would be smaller and not at risk. So far, so good. He was about 4 lbs last week which is bigger, but not at risk. I have another sizing at 37 weeks to confirm. I'm starting to get nervous about labor, but my sister had a successful vbac 10 months ago, so she is cheering me on.
I've never checked in, I hadn't seen this thread before lol. Everything looks good so far. I am meeting with a doula next week. OB is on board and very supportive. OB and duola have a very good relationship. Only thing worrying me right now is, baby I posterior.
I must have missed the last check ins... Anyway I'm here now! This will be (hopefully) my 3rd vbac so I am fairly optimistic that all will go well. I do have negative nancy midwife on some appts that keeps reminding to keep my risk factors down and is always talking about what I eat. So, that is annoying especially since I haven't gained weight in a month... Other than that all is looking good- I am measuring 3weeks ahead, but they do not think it is all baby. Reassuring since my kids tend to be whoppers! Good luck to you all!!
