2 for 2 on bed rest…and now

Background: With DS#1 I was just about 24 weeks when I got put on bed rest with him due to a short cervix. With DS#2 I was 19 weeks when I got put on bed rest with a short cervix. I never measured below 1.0cm and never have a positive FFN test. DS#1 came 2 days before his due date and ended in c-sec and DS#2 was a repeat c-sec at 39wks. This time around we spoke to the Dr.s about me going on bed rest and how to prepare myself. My husband and I got to talking (while we were trying to get pg) and realized that the first time we had sex while I was pg I got put on bed rest two days later. I was always nervous in my first trimester to have sex so we waited. We ended up doing the deed 2 days before I was put on bed rest with BOTH kids. Coincidence? I mentioned it to my Dr. and he said he really wasn't sure if it had anything to do with it or not. This time around they decided not to check my cervix my very 2 weeks b/c both boys were full term and it seems its just "how I'm made"…WELL…this time around we have not had sex once and I went to the Dr. and my cervix is still long and closed. I'm in shock! I was measuring at 4.2cm which is the longest its ever been.

Has this been the case for any of you ladies? I thought for sure I'd be on this board by now.  Just curious if anyone experienced something similar with a second ro third pregnancy.

    Lucky and hope that your cervix stays put! This is my first and I was just out on br at 21 due to my cervix:( I do know that they said it could start contractions so maybe the sperm started the process? Who knows! Bodies are so strange. We're you on crinone or did you get a cerclage?
    Started ttc may 2012 Me:32. Dh:31 SA- 4% morphology Fsh:9.1 possibly not always ovulating Hysteroscopy/lLap 7/13 resulted in polyp removal, uterine septum, and mild endo stage 1 removed 10/13 IVF #1 successful

    I am on bedrest with DS #2 and coincidentally enough the day before DH and I had sex. That next day I was in labor and delivery due to preterm labor. Same thing happened with DS #1 before I was put on bedrest with him.

    DS #1 born January 2010. DS #2 due June 2014.

    I was never a candidate for a cerclage since my kids were not pre-term and were due date babies and I had no history of loss. I was never put on crinone for that but ended up on it while trying to get pg with my 3rd bc my cycles were wonky and I had a short LP. I think it helped me get that LP longer and then stayed on it until 10 weeks. I was never on it during bed rest and never needed the steroid shot for the baby either. I was lucky.

    I've been worried about my cervix since we got pregnant (due to a prior cervical surgery) so we have only had sex maybe 2x since our BFP (poor hubby) and the last time was about 2 months ago, my cervix measured fine up until last week. So although I know sex can make things worse for short cervixes, it didn't have any effect in mine dropping a whole centimeter in a weeks time. I'm not sure what did but I'd be interested to know. I've been on bedrest since Friday.
