An Indiana middle school bans leggings and yoga pants, lol:

If the comments are to be believed, they didn't technically "ban" them, but are demanding tops be long enough to cover the bum.
Re: But leggings aren't pants ...
I agree with the premise of requiring kids to wear appropriate clothing to school and setting a standard, similar to what a workplace would set, so that kids understand that everything has its place and that leggings or yoga pants may be appropriate in other places, but just as they are not appropriate for work, they are not appropriate for school. I'm not even sure that I would include the covering the butt thing because that complicates it. The ban is clear and simple.
However, I disagree with an statement that it is necessary to ban them because they are a distraction for boys or anything that implies that the boys should not be able to control their eyes or their behavior. I hope that this same school has banned the boys clothes with the underwear showing, etc. as the writer points out.
Dress codes are fine as long as they support a learning environment for all students where they can feel comfortable and focus on education.

I wore jeans in HS that were sexier than my sexiest yoga pants, crazy, I know.
my SD is 7.5, about 6 months ago she REALLY started showing an interest in what she was wearing. Don't get me wrong she had preferences before, but the past 6 months or so have been the same outfits on repeat, completely avoiding certain clothing articles in her closet. That was when I tried to encourage her to wear her regular length tees with jeans, or put a skirt over the leggings. I bough her a few tunic sweaters to wear with her leggings. It's a work in progress, as is everything in a blended family.
