As far as the procedure goes it is super easy. The epidural can make breathing feel funny and you might even feel panicked a little.. Totally normal. Tell your anesthesiologist and they can 45 degree angle you.
I started taking Colace a week before hand.
Get up and walk as soon as they will let you.. It hurts but gets easier each time
Use ice on your girl bits if they get swollen
My recovery was super easy. I just stayed on top of the pain meds and didn't lay around all day.
I also got a compression band.
I'm basically giving the same advise someone did in another thread but all I did also and makes a huge difference.
I wish I had asked about a "gentle csection" and getting immediate skin to skin as well as baby not leaving while I was in recovery.
Walk around as soon as possible! You'll be sore and uncomfortable but it'll help. (I would also shower as soon as possible as well. It made me feel human again!)
Don't be afraid to ask for help! I felt like I had to do so much on my own when really I should've been asking for more assistance.
Take your stool softeners (I got a bottle from dollar general that work great for $2, much less than the hospital charges). Take them as long as you take pain meds - they can be constipating.
Make sure your husband is ready to help a lot.

my c section was wonderful. i went in had my spinal/epidural and had it done. my baby had meconium in his lungs so it took a couple of minutes for me to see him. i was walking around that night and barely taking pain meds. just walk around and take it easy!

I've had 2 c-sections now and will be having a third next month. I agree with the other girls though - get up and walk as soon as you can. It hurts like crazy the first time you get up, but you'll recover quicker if you start moving as soon as you can. I also got a compression garment this time around (never tried one before) and I'm hoping it helps with recovery as well. And yes, the stool softeners are a must. I think it took me about 3 or 4 days to feel good walking again. Good luck!
I am glad someone mentioned the gentle or baby friendly c section, skin to skin! We will be doing this this time... All other asvice is perfect, i would add, bring a small pillow to keep over your incision, i found that helped whenever any one was near me, if i got grazed for any reason, hugs, help with baby, food tray, it was only the pillow not my tender belly!
Good luck and so exciting!!!
Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses.... All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!
One thing I wish I had been warned about was the catheter staying in the first day. My boss of three years showed up with his Barbie doll wife the day of my section and I was laying there with a catheter and bag. It was a little gross and embarrassing. This time around, the first day will be reserved for immediate family only!
Re: CSection on Thursday! Any tips or advice on how to make the experience a positive one?
