Are most babies down to one nap now or still taking two? In the past week, Ainsley has been taking her late morning nap, but fighting her late afternoon nap hard. Today she sat in her crib for forty-five minutes, not crying but just doing her tired whine. I went in a few times to lay her back down and tell her it is time to go to sleep, but she never did. I am thinking it may be time to go to one nap, but I wish she would take it a bit later. She can barely make it to 11:00 am, and that makes for a very long rest of the day. How could you tell when your LO was ready to go to one nap?
Re: Down to one nap?
DD2 could switch to one nap a day right now but that would mean one longer nap earlier in the day at like 12:00. This would be really inconvenient with DD1's schedule (she naps at 2:00) and our other activities like church and ballet.
I think I am going to hold off for a little bit until she is able to make it till 2:00. DD1 is also going to start preschool in fall and I can't have DD2 taking a nap at like 12 or even 1:00, because DD1 won't get done till 12:30 and then they will still have to have lunch.
I feel like mine are trying to transition to one nap, as recently either the morning or afternoon nap has been more of a quiet playtime session. It's been confusing as heck, b/c the boys will act sleepy a good couple hours after they wake up (grab their blankets, suck their thumbs, say "Night night" and walk to the stairs....seems like a pretty clear sign!) and then just play for 45 minutes until I come and get them....then they're a cranky mess until I lay them back down an hour or two later, at which point they go right down and sleep at least 2 hours. But now this morning they had a good nap and now they're out again....so who knows?
