We are in the process of trying new sleep routines and coaching lo to sleep through the night. He's always been bath, book while drinking bottle then rocked to sleep. Well we have noticed for about a few weeks after he hit the sleep regression, he would wake up screaming then the second we picked him up he would fall back to sleep or once we sat in rocking chair he'd drift back off. Then we would put him in his crib he'd scream again. It was a vicious cycle.
So now we are just putting him in his crib awake since this is what I do for naps and it works during the day but nights are not as easy.
What's your routine?
Re: whats your lo's bed routine?
Dinner, bath (every other night), play time, book, bottle, diaper change (if needed) and rocked to sleep. Some nights I'll lay him down awake, other nights I'll rock him a while longer. He's fine going to sleep either way, sometimes I just want the extra cuddles.
Last bottle/nursing around 7:30
Play time/story time or bath
Change diaper and change into pajamas and put in crib at 8 PM
We say goodnight to Dad, grab his bottle and walk upstairs to his bedroom. I try to have his bedroom ready to go before we get up there that way I'm not struggling to close blinds, etc, while I carry him around. His curtains are closed, the white noise machine is on, his fan is on, and the baby monitor is on.
I sit in the chair in front of his crib and give him his bottle until it is empty or he pushes it away. After the bottle, sometimes he is almost completely asleep, sometimes he is drowsy, and sometimes he is wide awake. Regardless, I sit him up so I can pick him up as I stand. I kiss him on the cheek and put him in his crib. Then I put his soft blue blanket right next to him. He rolls onto his side and snuggles it with his face while I get the heck out of there and close the door behind me.
