Mostly BF baby and diarreah

My 3 month old has been having explosive diarreah 3-4x/day for the past 2 days.  His appetite is just not there, and I'm concerned about it effecting my supply.  I'm not sure what to do.  He's not running a temperature, and generally seems to be in good spirits most of the time.  He began STTN (was waking 2x/night to nurse) 2 nights ago.  Yesterday we were unable to get him to nap more than an hour 1-2 times, and he was surprisingly manageable.  My son is EBF when I am home, 50/50 BM and formula when I work (3 days/wk).  Could the diarreah be from the formula?  We have been using it for about one month without issue.  Could I have had a touch of the stomach bug and passed it on to LO through BM?  I pumped at work on Sunday, and plan to mix with formula tomorrow (Wed).  If it's something with the BM, I'm wondering if I should discard this BM?  I have had a real hard time getting my husband on board and supportive of BF.  I think that I'm finally winning his support, but worried that this little issue could become his ammunition about why we should not continue BF.  WWYD?  Should I take my son to Pediatrician today?  He doesn't seem that sick, but I work tomorrow and my husband doesn't drive d/t a disability.  Any ideas?

Re: Mostly BF baby and diarreah

  • Definitely continue to nurse. You don't pass ilness through BM, you pass the cure! :-) your immune system will create cells to help baby. It is amazing when you think about it.
