I'm a FTM returning to work tomorrow. My little girl will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. A few weeks ago I felt more than ready to go back and actually looked forward to it. Now that it's here, I am a mess! How did you all cope with going back to work for the first time and taking your baby to the babysitter?
Re: Advice on going back to work?
I agree with PP about getting everything ready ahead of time. I get all the bottles and burp cloths ready and into his bag the night before.
I set out his outfits for the week Sunday night. I check the weather and put 5 stacks of clothes on the bottom shelf of his changing table so during the week I'm not worrying about doing his laundry and figuring out how I want to dress him.
We do a fair amount of cooking on Sunday. I'll make a big batch of fried rice, carnitas or beef barbacoa, chili, shrimp orzo and breakfast burritos. Stuff like that re-heats well and then I'm not scrambling to make dinner.
The house isn't in great shape and meals are completely unremarkable most nights because I spend the afternoon and evenings snuggling the baby. I'm fine with that.
