I know it's been a while since I have posted but life has been pretty crazy! My DS1 who has ASD is transitioning to the school district preschool program for children with disabilities and he has been doing really great in ABA! Unfortunately he has been having a really hard time with constipation. A week and a half ago i accidentally didn't give him miralax for a day and it caused him to really back up. He finally started pooping again on Tuesday but on Wednesday evening he started throwing up every 10 minutes. He was so weak and lethargic that our pedi had us take him to the children's er. Thank goodness we did because when we got here he was tachycardic from the dehydration. They think the vomiting was caused by the constipation so they are trying to clean him out, unfortunately he got 2 enemas yesterday and they really didn't help much. So today they will probably have to do more invasive procedures. I had already called a GI specialist who specializes in kids with autism to get him an appointment but the wait is a month. I called yesterday to see if we can get in sooner since he is pretty sick because of the constipation but I haven't gotten a call back yet. Hopefully if he poops and starts eating and drinking again today we will be able to go home. Does anyone have any experience with severe constipation? What helped your child? Thank you!

Re: DS is in the hospital :( updated in comments
We did a 3 day cleansing at home under the guide of GI doc.
I can't remember exactly how it went but...
We used 1/2 fleet enema for three days (once a day) and I believe the miralax was a full cap twice a day for th 1st day and 1 full cap a day after that. Poor kid had 10x more poop that he was supposed to.
Now we continue with miralax but if he gets backed up again we have to go an enema again.
Is he blocked?
Best of luck!
I'm sooo sorry.
