If you had/will have a scheduled c-section cuz of babies' positions

When did you and your doctors decide on that?

They still have plenty of time to move (I'm 26w2d). But Baby A has been head down since the beginning and he just flipped to breech in the last week and a half. Baby B is still transverse. MFM said we'll see where they are at around 32 weeks and at that point if neither of them are head down still, we will likely schedule a c-section for 38-39 weeks.

Maybe it's because it's going by so fast, but I guess I had more time than that!

  • My ob wants to do a c/s at 37w I was told that at 11w. I have since asked that we keep the possibility of a vaginal birth open if baby a isn't breech. We have not really spoken about it since.
  • At my 28 week appointment my doctor put in the request to schedule so I could get the date/time I wanted and it would be with her. I scheduled it a week later at 29 weeks. I'm scheduled for 38 weeks exactly and was able to get the first appointment which I wanted. At my growth scan on wednesday, they were both still head down, but I'm doing acupuncture and chiropractic treatment and hoping it'll do something. THey will check the morning I go in and convert to induction if baby a has flipped. Baby B is smaller so they'll let me deliver him breech.

  • My dr will make the decision at my ultrasound at 34w. B is head down now, but A is breech. If she stays breech/if B flips breech I will have a scheduled csection.

  • We scheduled at 34 for a csec at 38 and 3 days. But she pretty much called it at 32 weeks but we held out hope up until the end. My ob checked me right before the section but no luck. My baby A was head down but baby B was transverse.
  • I was 32 weeks when we scheduled my 38 week section, which was March 12th... But I went into labor on the 8th, my boys didn't want to wait I guess.

    Why at 11 weeks?

Good question :) I was surprised as well. She says that the body is normally not really ready for labor at 37w so she does not recommend inducing that early but with twins they don't want them to cook too long. So c/s is her answer and I guess she wanted t be upfront about her position.
  • My situation was a little bit different (and scary!) because my b/g twins decided to arrive super early. I went into preterm labor and our little ones arrived 01/29/2014 at exactly 25 weeks. Both babies were head down at my 20wk scan so we were planning on a vaginal delivery, but by 24wks Baby B (our little boy) had flipped breech. If I had been closer to term the OB who delivered them said she would still have been inclined to do a vaginal with the hopes that Baby B would turn head down after Baby A arrived, but with them being so premature and fragile she didn't want to take any extra risks--so a c-section it was.
  • We didn't schedule my csection until I was around 36 weeks. We scheduled it 2 weeks later when I was 38wk+1day. My baby a was head down but baby b was transverse and flipping back and forth. My dr said it was up to me whether I wanted to have a csection or vaginal because there was a chance baby b would flip once baby a was out. But there was also a chance I could deliver baby a and end up with a csection with baby b so I just opted for the section. I was very indecisive about what to do. I ended up making it to my scheduled date with no labor or water breaking. Not even dilated when they checked at 37 weeks!

  • I believe we decided to set the date for a C section at 34 weeks. Baby A flipped to breech at 30 weeks and never went back. The doctor checked at every appointment and even right before they wheeled me into surgery to make sure he hadn't flipped and I could've tried for a vaginal delivery, but it was not to be. I delivered at 38 weeks 4 days.

  • I'm at 31 weeks with Mo/Di and one of my girls is breech.  Neither has changed positions in months.  My doctor is giving me until 34 weeks for Baby B to turn but she thinks she won't.  At 34 weeks we'll schedule to deliver via C-Section at 37 weeks.
  • My babies were transverse the entire pregnancy.  Because of that we scheduled my c-section for 37w1d.  My water broke naturally at 35w5d and we had babies that day instead.  :-)

  • We schedule at 30 weeks for 38 weeks to make sure we got the date the doctor requested. When had minor complications at week 36 and had to move everything up a week that caused major rearranging for the doctor and the hospital. It took two days to schedule amd get an open OR. Even after that we waited hours past our scheduled time due to emergencies,
