Damn you, Moby Wrap!

Ok, ive tried the Moby Wrap and the K'tan and couldnt figure out either one! Maybe im just not coordinated but i dont want to spend 10 minutes wrapping myself every time i want to hold DS. I also tried a sling, but it was way too small for him. He is a tall boy at only 7 weeks old. I need a SIMPLE to wear infant carrier. What is your fave?

Re: Damn you, Moby Wrap!

  • I didn't buy a wrap for fear they would frustrate me and be hard to wear properly. I have an ergo sport with an infant insert that really easy to snap on and go. It should even be easier when she outgrows the infant insert.

  • I had a hard time with moby with my first, so I didn't even try it this time. I also did not like ergo b/c I found the shoulder straps were too wide and padded for me (I'm only 5'3", petite with narrow shoulders). I bought infantino mei tai and couldn't be happier. Very easy to put on and keeps the baby close and secure. My girl is 9 weeks and tall for her age and she conks out whenever I put her in there. Best $30 I spent.
  • I love my Moby and can put it in a minute or less. Have you watched the videos online?
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

  • I agree.  I have the Ktan wrap as well and I'm thinking of taking it back, because I can't figure it out.  Maybe I'll try watching the videos first though.

I love my moby. It probably took me about 4 times of using it to feel like I was doing it right the first time. Seriously, check out the videos and practice with a stuffed animal when LO is sleeping. Thats what I finally did. It's also important to note that when doing the newborn hold, you have to put her bottom in to the side closest to your body. I kept doing it backwards and couldn't figure out why she wasn't holding well. Once I figured that out, it has been a dream. I wouldn't change it! They also say that babies can sense your hesitation but fall asleep quickly in a moby for someone who is confident and doing it right. I have to say, she seems to like it a lot better now. When she is fussy, she will sleep for hours in it. I wear it at home and to the store. Makes grocery shopping a breeze! The best tip I was told is to wrap yourself before you go out. That way you are not messing with the wrap in the parking lot. You can get out of the car, slide the baby in and go right into the store. Unwrap when you get home also. Super easy!
  • YouTube; the step by step directions really do help!

  • I agree with the pp about the youtube videos the newborn hold i actually cant put on even before i need it and just slip my lo in
  • My son hated the Moby and K'Tan. I watched lots of YouTube videos but he never seemed comfortable in either. I ordered a beco Gemini and he LOVES it. You don't need an insert for smaller baby's. He spends at least an hour a day in it. Anytime we go out I wear him in it. We go for walks everyday and I do chores in it. It is wonderful. It was $130.00 but it was so worth it. My son is 23 1/2" long and 12 lbs. Long and skinny. Try a Beco!
