Vent and DH AW

Today was a long day.  It was the first day back after a short spring break that was anything but relaxing for the most part.  At the end of it, DD had her first speech therapy appointment.  I picked her up from school, gave her a snack, and drove her to the appointment.  Well, her teacher was out today and for a 3 year old expected to see her favorite teacher after being away for a bit, that was not great.  She was off, whiney, fussy, impatient, NOT wanting to work on speech.  She did the best she could (and so did her therapist!) but by the time we got home at 6:30 we were both done.

I called DH on the way and said that he needed to take over for me when I got home.  He stepped in, got her comfortable, gave me a glass of wine and sent me to our room to relax for a bit.  I needed that.

  • Sorry DD had such a rough time but your DH sounds awesome.

  • He is pretty awesome.  We had a big talk in January and laid out some things between us, and things have been great since then.  It is hard for him that I am her primary person--if she wants something or needs something, she comes to me.  She tells him, "No, Daddy, not you!" pretty often, but we're working on it.

I feel bad for DD because I think she is realizing why we are working on speech.  Since she has been talking, for instance, the color blue has been "doo".  I've been trying to get her to call it "boo" at least, and lately she just refuses to call it anything.  Today, I asked about the color of something blue, and she said, "I don't know."
