Re: *** Monday Bedrest Check-in ***

  • I slept okay once I was finally able to fall asleep. My brain will not turn off more nights.

I'm asking my doctor about an anti depressant tomorrow at my appointment. I've been so down in the dumps lately and just crying at the drop of a hat. Pity party for one please.

27 weeks on Wednesday! That much closer to 30-32 weeks! Doctors appointment tomorrow (Tuesday) and weekly progesterone shot.

My typical BR wear is swear pants and t shirts. And I do try and wear a sports bra so I feel somewhat put together. I've thought about hitting up Target to get some black yoga pants which may make me look more put together than my green turtle swear pants or my ratty gray sweatpants.

  • As of today I am joining you crazy kids! I am 27+6 days pregnant with my second baby and over the weekend my BP shot up and they decided bedrest was the best option for me until baby girl arrives. Thanks for posting this check-in!

How did you sleep? I was at the hospital so not great. Looking forward to being in my own bed tonight!

Any new pregnancy symptoms, cravings, or aversions? I have really wanted Dr. Pepper lately. And for some reason cinnamon thoroughly disgusts me since yesterday. No idea why.

Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates? (Ticker change?) I see the MFM tomorrow and the OB Wednesday. I haven't spoken to my actual doctors about all of this yet so I am interested in seeing what they say.

QOTD: I've spent the majority of my bedrest time in nightgowns or long pj tshirts... what have been your outfits of choice for your BR experience? Do you have a favorite article of clothing? For the four whole days I have been on BR :) I have enjoyed pajama pants and long t-shirts. My favorite sweatpants are long and soft and tell me how pretty I am.

  • Mrs_D_in_KY So glad you're going to talk to your doctor about meds for depression. BR is tough no matter what, but dealing with this and depression at the same time would be completely overwhelming! Hoping they have a good plan!

@flerlgirl sorry you're joining us, but good to see you and welcome! Hoping the BP stays down!

No big news here except 34 weeks today!!! I'm dealing with more indigestion and reflux... I should buy some stock in TUMS soothies. I have a doctor's appt and NST tomorrow. Not expecting anything earth shattering. I am going to talk through with them my new plan which is not to come in unless I have concerns about movement, active bleeding, or am pretty sure I'm in active labor.

QOTD: Since I'm on modified bedrest after about a week or so I decided that getting cleaned up and dressed every day was important to my sanity. I also didn't want to waste all my maternity clothes. On casual days I wear my comfy full panel jeans or pants with sweater sets or T shirts. On appt days or for outings I frequently do leggings and dresses. I also put on BB cream and blush every day- for me it's the little things!

  • Hi everyone, hope you're all feeling well, and welcome to all the new mamas!

I just wanted to post a quick update on how things are going.  I had my cerclage out last Thursday like I posted about, and just had some light spotting and very mild cramping afterwards, but I've felt fine since then.  I saw my OB again today and he checked for any remaining piece of the cerclage, which there was some, so he did another quick speculum check and removed it.  It was actually pretty easy this time, and just a little bit more spotting now.

I am officially off bed rest (and pelvic rest, in case anyone was wondering!)  ;)  He said that this point there's not really anything I can't do.  So now I'm just trying to slowly regain some strength, and just wait for baby's arrival!  I will keep posting here and there, and rooting for all of you strong ladies!  Keep up the amazing work!

  • @haziedaze, do you mind if I ask what your restrictions are on modified bed rest? I saw doctors from my practice this weekend but not my actual doctors, and all of them had conflicting information on what bedrest means. Do they let you drive or go to church (or whatever weekly thing you do, if you do one), sit up, etc? I am just trying to figure out what to specifically ask my dr about. Congrats on 34 weeks!!!

  • @Mrs_D_in_KY‌, I hope your Dr has some answers for you tomorrow and lots of t&p that you find some relief soon.

@flerlgirl‌, Welcome to the BR check-in... sorry to hear about your bp issues but hopefully you get encouraging news tomorrow.

@haziedaze‌, Makeup? Wow I am impressed!! I haven't seen my makeup bag in months!! lol. You're going to be my inspiration to make an effort to be more put together especially not that I'm a little more active.

@MissChanandlerBong‌, Congratulations on being taken off BR!!! It's so exciting to hear that you'll be holding your LO soon. Keep us updated on your progress please. Best wishes!!

  • @mrs_D_in_KY, I just wanted to say good for you for going to your doctor about how you're feeling. That isn't easy and I remember feeling so silly when I told my doctor that I felt depressed during my first pregnancy, but it was such a relief to get some help! Big hugs to you.

Thanks everyone! I fought too long to be normal when I was on 8 weeks of bedrest with DS #1, then laboring and then having BFing issues. Which bfing issues then turned into me EPing for a year.

I remember telling my OB at the time how I felt and he said it was all in my head. Well yea it is, I felt totally crazy! I wound up going to my primary care doctor and got a low dose anti depressant and if was like coming out of a fog.

That was obviously the last visit I had with that OB office and am now at a totally different one for this pregnancy.

I definitely plan to nip this in the bud early. Hopefully I am on bedrest for the long haul, even though every day I am super paranoid about this little guy coming too early. Bedrest isn't fun, but feeling like crap on top of it all makes it that much harder.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings!

  • @flerlgirl It was interesting, last time they gave me a handout that showed different "levels" of bedrest with lots of specifics. This time we kinda talked though it and this is what I've done.

-Sit in a reclined position with feet up or lay on side (left > right) for the majority of the day
-Get up only to do light meal prep, use BR, shower (I limit this to every other day and I have a stool to sit at my sink for teeth brushing/makeup/wash up)
-1 active period per day of up to 2-3 hours doing errands, going to appts (I skipped this except appts until I was 30 weeks- too scared!)
    -Limit walking/standing
-Limit trips up stairs (was doing 1/day now its realistically like 2-3, I always forget things!)
-Avoid bending/lifting (i.e. laundry, picking up, carrying DS, etc)

I think doctors really vary on this. Mine aren't super gung-ho about bedrest in the first place and are worried about deconditioning/blood clots. They did say that the walking/standing this was more likely to cause problems than anything else, so that's what I avoid the most. Hope that's helpful!

  • @haziedaze, thank you for taking the time to answer me! I am just trying to get a feel for what other people are restricted from so I know what to ask about. This definitely helps!

I hope that my modifies bed rest and check ups will soon show I can Leave the house and do a few Normal activities in life! But until about 28 weeks I'm scared! Milestones - well, as of right now I've made it to 22 weeks and my awful cervical check apt. Is almost 7 days past. Thursday. They are doing an ultrasound on my kidney and gall bladder due to inconsistent pain I've had that has sent me to the ER. Qotd: I've only been on bd for 6 days but I plan on bouncing between lounge clothes and regular clothes. I would like to feel attractive some days! I look forward to my apts. so I can wear the cute dresses I bought out. Come on spring! I have a lot more pain and discomforts during night time...hence the bumping at 2:12 am! Do you guys?

  • I know with weekly ultrasounds I could just find out the sex but I like that I am still unsure. We have our guess but you never know. Do you guys see any boy parts in the first shot? I believe it's showing the head and 2 legs flipped up by it! Do you ladies know what you're having?

Every single day counts right now, so congrats on 22 weeks! Hoping your next round of u/s goes well. Nighttime is definitely hard. I used to be nauseous in the middle of the night, then it was leg cramps and restlessness, then heart burn and now its a mixture of hip/back pain, heartburn, insomnia, and contractions. Lovely!

I can't tell much from that first pic. We've had lots of shots of this guys penis and testicles and they are pretty darn clear. Just ask your tech, they may be avoiding those shots if they aren't sure you want to know.
