I work in midtown NYC so a co-worker and I just walked up to the start of the parade (about 10 blocks up from where we are) to see if we could catch a bit of it. We couldn't really get too close, but we heard a bagpipe band playing. I don't know why, but the sound of bagpipes make me want to burst into tears!
On our walk back to the office, we saw a girl getting arrested for maybe drunk and disorderly conduct/ indecent exposure? She was standing on the steps of the NYC public library (which was baracaded off) and her pants were down aroung her ankles. I legit saw her ass.
We are doing happy hour after work, but I am probably only going to stay for one drink-- gotta get home to the bambeen.
What's OAD doing?

Re: Any St. Paddy's plans?
Coincidence. We're not the least bit Irish. And I tend to roll my eyes at the amateur hour antics. Ditto Cinco de Mayo, Mardi Gras, etc.
I don't even wear green. My father didn't allow it when we were kids because we're Danish and they (Vikings) conquered the Irish so we don't have to...
Happy Anniversary @kristennd!
We aren't Irish either-- not even a smidge. I am wearing green though. It's one of my "colors"

Me too. Every single time. And I do know why: it's because they are played at law enforcement and fightfighter funerals and it takes me right there when I hear them.
ETA: I'm doing nothing except working a late event until 9pm
I haven't ever been to a funeral where they are played, but they are just so frigging sad sounding!
Boo to working late.

No plans here. Not Irish, don't pretend to be.. lol. Don't like corned beef, or cabbage. Or the smell of it. Don't care for green.
I'll take a shamrock shake, though.
