I hear all this talk about how immunizations are bad, how they cause autism and whatever else... where's the proof in all of this? Will you choose to have your child receive their immunizations or not and why?
My lo is getting all vaccinations that are given to children.
I personally disagree with the chicken pox vaccine but it's mandatory for school (AtLEaST in wi)
I don't want or intend to start a debate with this question, but can I ask why you are specifically against the chicken pox vaccine? It can easily be a very serious disease if you avoid it your whole childhood and then contract it as an adult.

I just want to add it can also be very serious in babies and children as well.
Vaccines do not cause autism. The one study that claimed it did was by a doctor who created an alternative to the MMR. He was trying to get his vaccine started so he created a study on his child and their friends kids to state that the MMR causes autism. It was retracted and disproven multiple times.
Please do your own research on this topic, and use that as the basis of your decision. Don't rely on internet strangers to make the decision for you.
My husband and I have done our own research, and as long as the baby is healthy, we plan on vaccinating on schedule. If our doctor recommends something different for whatever reason, we will consider it. We don't believe that vaccines are harmful or carry undue risk for normal healthy people.
We vaccinate on schedule except no Hep B at the hospital (I try to cut down on the number of needle pricks shortly after birth and I see no harm in waiting until the 2 mo appt when the other vaccines start) and I don't do more than 1 live vaccine at once. I think this has happened once - with MMR and chicken pox scheduled for the same visit so I delayed the first chicken pox shot to the next appt. No real scientific reason for that (and I'm a scientist - go figure) other than helping to isolate the source of any reactions. Even with any delays, it's only for 3-6 mo so catch-up happens pretty quickly.
Others have covered why Andrew Wakefield had a financial incentive to falsify data linking MMR to autism and how it's been retracted, he was been widely discredited, and tons of other groups have studied this and found absolutely no link. MMR is actually safer now than it was - and it was safe before - because of all of this misdirected attention. Unfortunate because that research money could have been used for better purposes.
We vaccinate on schedule. There is more research done on the safety of vaccinating on schedule than there is for a delayed schedule, so I feel very comfortable following the recommended guidelines.
But your two options should be regular schedule or delayed schedule. VACCINATE YOUR KID, HOWEVER YOU DO IT.

The link was proven to be fabricated. Made up. So no, immunizations are not bad.
Want to know what is bad? Dying a horrible death from a preventable disease. Visit a NICU. Go on. See a poor baby in distress from whooping cough, or flu.
Or visit your friend/family with cancer who is so ill they just lay there struggling.
Vaccinate your kids. I'm tired of these ignorant, selfish & stupid motherfuckers harming the herd immunity. They are consciously making a decision that could end someone's life all because they want to play doctor.
For the love of God, just vaccinate your kids. Stop listening to internet quacks about it. End the bullshit.
My pedi talked to me about vaccinations for as long as I wanted. She said it had all been disproven. She also gave me tons of information in general.
Sure there is always a chance a child can have a reaction but they can also have a reaction to eating certain foods at any time. One of my kids is allergic to several things and is Celiac.
He gets all his vaccinations except the Flu one. If he were to have a reaction then we will deal with it just like we do in daily life when he has issues.
I would rather him be protected than go without.
We have watched him have 4 febrile seizures and vomit daily for months (it is awful every time) and I can not imagine him getting something we could have prevented because watching him with stuff we can't is terrible on any parents

I'm a teacher.. and we just had a case of Chicken Pox... we have way too many parents declining some of these vaccines...
My son has severe classic autism. He and his two siblings have been fully vaccinated and this little one will as well. My son's condition was not caused by vaccines. Please do not listen to Jenny McCarthy over real doctors. This stuff gets me very upset. Because money spent focusing on vaccinations could be used to develop better therapies.

You can still catch it with the vaccine, but it is SO MILD. This just happened to my son. It only affected a tiny portion of his body and he missed 1 day of school. If he hadn't had the vaccine he would have been out for a week and in physical misery.
I plan to vaccinate on a bit of a delayed schedule for the same reasons that others have said here. Apparently when I was going through my vaccine schedule as a baby I had bad reactions to almost every one, so I just want to go slow and not overwhelm my baby girl if she happens to have the same reactions. I agree that the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks, though I know better than some that someone ends up in the 1% of people with adverse reactions.
I also found and read the "study" that was retracted and it was completely bogus. (My degree is in Biology, so I know how to interpret data). He was a gastroenterologist and his sample group was 8 children whose parents brought them in to see him for gastro issues. The parents told him that the symptoms started after getting the MMR vaccine. Most (7 of 8?) of the kids were boys. They happened to also develop autistic symptoms at about the same time, a time that happens to be developmentally altering for children. That's how he drew his bogus conclusions. It was very much a huuuuge jump to conclusions in his study with very little evidence.
Please vaccinate. I have three on the spectrum and have read about every piece ever written on autism. There is no link between vaccines and autism, and they have overly researched this area. There is a strong genetic and environmental component, but nothing proven with vaccines.
On another note, I would not trade my three for the world. They are loving, strong willed, independent, challenging, and amazing.

Also, this is a good video about vaccines not causing autism. https://youtu.be/o65l1YAVaYc
