anti nausua drugs while pregnant

Ok - I'm going in for my appt today (9 weeks) - the drugs I took with Emma aren't helping (in fact taking them makes me puke) - I'm not puking so much as constantly sick.  I feel like total crap.  I've tried acupuncture and it helped - but its hard to get to and it didn't help as much as I'd like for the money / time commtiment.  I know I only have (hopefully) 3 more weeks or so of this..

Anyone use prescription drugs when pregnant?  Specifically to help the yuck feeling not the puking constantly..?  Anyone have experience that wasn't great?

  • Vitamin B6.  Cut it in half and take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon.

My doc wouldn't prescribe anything when I was pregnant with Nancy and the B6 worked like a charm for me.

  • Oh I should mention - I'm taking b6 (100 total 50 in the morning + 50 at night) and unisom (half tablet) at night - it helped - but now its not working :(

  • My doctor gave me Zofran and that worked out well for me.

  • I took Zofran but it didn't work nearly as well this time as it did last time. I just kind of muddled my way through it. I hope you feel better soon!

Zofran has been no help to me, in either pregnancy. Unisom (doxylamine, not diphenhydramine) has been a GODSEND. One at night and another half during the day when I needed it in the beginning. I'm 25 weeks and now taking just a half every night - if I don't, I still have minimal morning sickness (lasted a long time in my first pregnancy too). If you haven't tried the unisom, do. But talk to your doctor. And if they don't think that's a good idea or it doesn't work, keep at it until they find something that helps!! GL

  • I'm on Zofran and I feel like it does practically nothing. McDonald's french fries make me feel better though. Try that.

  • I was on the unisom (still am right now) - and it helped the first few weeks that it got bad but the last few weeks it hasn't.  Was just at the doc and she gave me the zofran - here's to hoping :)

McDonalds fries and lime tortilla chips do help ;)  As long as they are in my mouth... ;)

  • I took zofran from like week 6 or 7 on. I was soooo sick. I jUST stopped taking it 3 days ago. Finally feeling better. Some days I was still very sick with it..but better than i would be without it. I'm really glad I got it. Constipation though..YES. I went 10 days without pooping one time. Ugh.

  • :)  I think I LOVE zofran - got it yesterday and I loved it right away - Just took my 2nd pill.  But yes - I can already tell I'm going to have to work on the constipation.. what is it they say - pears, prunes, peaches, peas and .. plums?  No applesauce or carrots..
