who has switched to maternity pants?

I'm so reluctant to switch over because I know that once I do, I'm really stuck in those few pairs of maternity pants for the next 5.5 months.  But I also tore a giant hole in one of my favorite pairs of jeans this weekend so now I'm seriously considering it.  For the moment, I can still get a bunch of my regular pants buttoned so I'm just going to keep wearing the ones I don't love quite as much as those poor ones that I ripped.  But I know that maternity clothes are closing in on me soon...

Re: who has switched to maternity pants?

  • I switched a few weeks ago!! None of my jeans fit me anymore. Broke out my maternity pants stash and have been wearing them and stretchy pants. I just ordered some mat jeans online as the ones I have are too long and I hate the cut. This is my third so I'm showing much sooner than with my previous pg. good luck!

  • I've thrown them in the mix. I have a few non maternity pants that still fit, but some don't. So it's nice to have a few more to pick from. This summer, I'll be wearing skirts and shorts the whole time, so I don't mind busting out the pants this early.

  • I switched lots of weeks ago! This is my second go 'round though and I'm still holding onto some belly flab from DS.

The first time around I held off for a very long time and when I finally tried on a pair of maternity pants in Motherhood, I wore them out of the store and could NOT believe I had waited so long! Seriously, best invention ever!!
  • I'm getting ready to - just as soon as I can find the time to go buy some!

For now it's billowy dresses for days! (Wish it was warmer...)

  • I can still button my jeans but not without having some serious muffin top and discomfort so I've been wearing maternity jeans and using belly bands with my regular jeans! My work has no dress code whatsoever so yoga pants are also a go-to!
  • I using both right now - started a couple weeks ago. Still haven't gained any weight (thanks, nausea/vomiting) but my stomach is looking bigger, and they are more comfortable!

    I switched around 12 weeks. I don't think I will switch out.

  • Maternity pants all the way!! Why suffer in regular pants when elastic waisted pants are so much more comfortable!!!!
  • I switched at 11.5 weeks and it's been great! I also have added a lot of the jersey knit skirts to my wardrobe. I'm just waiting for it to be full on summer and I can stock up on skirts, dresses and other flowy outfits! Yay! Now it my damn skin would go back to normal...
  • They are in the mix. Regular pants require a belly band.

  • Now that my bloat has gone down my regular pants are fitting pretty good. I'm sure the next couple of weeks will be a different story.
  • I also made the switch this weekend. Bought some pants and I am in heaven. So comfortable now.

  • I switched weeks ago, around 11 or so. Mat pants are too comfy! Screw regular jeans
  • I'm not in maternity yet and think I can hold out a little longer. I did, however, buy a few pairs of the 'jegging' pants and they are WONDERFUL! I had never tried them on before because the name just sounded stupid to me. But then I found a few REALLY cute pairs (khaki and black) that I could wear with boots to work and I can't get enough of them! Plus, I found them at TJ Maxx for $12!!! Score!

  • I bought some maternity stuff from the Gap last weekend, then indulged in some more items from Destination Maternity this weekend, including a pair of designer maternity jeans that I am in love with, as is DH, who said, "those are the best looking pair of pants you own... funny they're maternity!"

  • I just bought some online from Motherhood recently, and tried them on this weekend. I'm going to start wearing them this weekend most likely. I want to get a little more wear out of my regular pants so will try out both for a little longer. They sure are comfy though! Now I have to find some materntity pants and skirts for work because my current options are becoming very limited!
  • Due to this surprise, I wasn't all the way out. :/ I have a pair of regular jeans that I sized up in and some standby maternity jeans. I'll have been in them for virtually two years. 8)

  • I'm in maternity pants. Switched over fully last week. This is my 2nd and I haven't lost all if the stomach flab from DS.

Annoying part was I am about 2.5 months off in timing on my last pregnancy so I have a ton of capris waiting but not enough long pants. So I had to suck it up and buy a few pairs if long pants. Thankfully my shirts are still ok.

  • Right now I'm in love with my jeggings, leggings that look like jeans. I'm hoping I can wear them till the weather warms up. Then it's maxi skirts for me aka crotchless sweatpants.
  • I peed, the second line appeared, I put maternity pants on. Not literally but almost.
  • Me! Im in that awkward regular clothes are too tight but maternity pants are too big place.

  • I have one pair that I wear because I can't find any more that I like!!! It's super depressing. I've had to wear black pants and skirts on the days my one maternity pair is dirty. I bought another blk pair over the weekend and a couple long shirts. All my normal jeans refuse to zip much less botton. :(

  • I've been in them for several weeks now. It was due to bloat in the beginning but I definitely need them for my growing bump now.

  • I'm holding out as long as possible as well! I feel slightly less frumpy with my regular jeans. Almost 14 weeks with 3rd child. I have switched to maternity tops though

  • I'm still in regular clothes, but my jeans are getting snug. I need to find a pair of maternity work slacks...every time I try on s pair that fits, they're way too long

  • I lost 20lbs about a year ago. Lucky me, I never got rid of those pants. I'm wearing them for now :-) they are super comfy and to think at one time they were tight!

Being a first timer, I am looking forward to the maternity clothes. I tried some on a few weeks ago and wow so comfortable, but I couldn't bring myself to buy them just yet. I felt silly trying them on as I had no bump. Ha.

  • I'm about there.  I'm running out of work clothes I can hide under, but I haven't told work yet, so I guess I better do that before I debut my new wardrobe.
  • My jeans still fit but I've had to switch to maternity work pants or just wear dresses since the maternity pants are still a bit loose in the belly. I hate that in between stage.

  • I don't know why I'm holding out still. I have one pair of maternity skinny jeans and that's it so far, but it's full panel and they don't fit right yet. At home I just wear yoga pants with the foldable bands (SO COMFTY) and at work, depending on the pants I have on, I just leave it unbuttoned but with a belt on so my pants don't slide down =P and wear a belly band. So far, so good! I'm sure I"ll be on the same page as y'all by the time I make the switch!

  • My regular jeans were tight at 8 weeks (mostly from bloating) and I wore them with a hair-tie through the button hole to extend them but by 10 weeks I was tired of this and got my first pair of maternity jeans... which by the way are the most comfy thing every (I got motherhood brand with the secret fit belly). I'm a nurse so at work I wear scrub pants and this past week (12 weeks) I started having to wear my bigger pants that I had been planning on getting rid of. My mom is sewing maternity panels in a couple pairs of my scrub pants for me which I can't wait for because they will be soooo much more comfy. Most of my scrub tops should hopefully fit for another couple of months but a couple of my coworkers have already noticed my belly is starting to grow. (They knew I was pregnant early because I work on a psych unit and I felt better knowing that my coworkers knew I was pregnant.)
  • I switched over at about 12.5 weeks. I lost about 11lbs in the first trimester because I was so sick, and am still about 5lbs down at 16 weeks. In the beginning I needed the maternity pants because I was bloated (I blame the gallons of Gatorade I drank every day so I wouldn't be dehydrated) but I could still wear some of my looser and comfy tops. In the past week my bump has suddenly popped out so I went shopping over the weekend and bought practically a whole new wardrobe.

I switched at around 10 weeks, and haven't looked back.  My bloat was crazy.  I mainly wear yoga pants when I'm not at work, but I did get some stuff for church.

I switched at 13 weeks for work because my regular uniform was just getting way too uncomfortable

  • Definitely! And I have been. Since about week 10 any bands with a real waistband cut into me and made painful gas bubbles whenever I sat. Loving the stretchy pants and skirts!

Not yet, but I can feel it closing in. I have one pair of jeans left that fit right and the rest of the time it's yoga pants or DH's pajama pants. Thank god my sister gave me her belly band!
  • I still fit in my loser/stretchier pairs of regular shorts but got a pair of maternity shorts last week-I am in heaven when I wear them! More comfortable than pajamas! I have to get another pair next week.
