Scared to get too attached!

I had an elective ultrasound yesterday at 14 weeks 5 days and we are having a boy! As far as I can see from the ultrasound (and the technician did not seem to have any doubts) it definitely looks like it's 100% boy. But I told family yesterday and today and some have made comments that we can't possibly know that early. I've started to doubt everything, whereas before I felt it was a boy and all symptoms pointed to a boy. Has anyone else found out early and it been wrong with either previous or your current pregnancy? I'm still pretty positive it's a boy but I'm just letting others negativity get the best of me.

It looks to me like the tech got a really good shot, and it definitely looks like a boy. With girls, you usually see three little parallel white lines. There's always a chance of error, of course, but I would bet it's a boy. Congrats!

Did they see this u/s pic? Most don't find out until 16/20 weeks, but I believe that is due to the scan being paid for by insurance as a necessity and the gender is just a "bonus"? I could be wrong?!?! I also believe genitals are formed around week 12 so it could very well be accurate... I would say boy from that pic!

This was not covered by insurance, just an elective specifically for gender. The place came highly recommended and the owner told me when I made the appointment that in their 11 years of business, they have never been wrong when 14 weeks and up.

Totally a boy! I have two boys with similar us pics! I found out on my second at 13 weeks...it was very obvious! It's rare to get boy parts wrong.

I found out and 13 weeks and 3 days at my Doctor's office then had it confirmed the next day at my geneticist's office (different ultrasonographer) and am convinced! I agree that you are having a boy. Congrats!

Honestly - who cares if they think you can't possibly know. You can guess gender pretty accurately from 12 weeks with increasing accuracy as time passes. II'm 16 weeks - had my first scan at 13 weeks 5 days or so - and they were 96% sure it's a boy. Then I had one several days later at the doctor - and he said boy too. I'm going again for a scan today for a cervical measurement + an OK to fly appointment - and I'm hoping he will say the same too.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, but even if you wait until 20 weeks and have them guess... it is still just a guess. An educated guess, a best guess, but a guess nonetheless. A girl I work with was pregnant around the same time as my first baby, and she was planning for only one - they found out it was boy, painted the nursery blue, bought all blue things, had his name embroidered on things. Fast forward to the big day - baby is born and dr says, "It's a girl!" Sometimes these things happen. I'm not saying that it's going to happen to you, I cannot even see you u/s pic.

@SpoofLeJones‌ Exactly. Sorry if the title was misleading. I am happy either way, but knowing now makes me obviously scared to get invested in thinking about little boy things. But I agree, I don't think there is any mistaking the boy parts.

You're going to have another ultrasound in just a few weeks. I'm on my phone so the photo is small, but if you are worried it might be wrong, just hold off buying anything for a few weeks until you get confirmation at your anatomy scan.

I do know two people whose ultrasound guesses were wrong and didn't find out until birth - one was expecting girl and had a boy, and one was expecting boy and it was a girl. But I also know hundreds of people whose guesses were right.
