bath time-how often?

My baby is now 3 weeks old, and he had his first "real" bath last Sunday.  I'm planning on bathing him every Sunday.  Should I be bathing him more often?  How often do you bathe your little one?

Re: bath time-how often?

  • Once a week would probably be alright for now.  They don't get too dirty until they are more mobile.  I imagine you will be washing his face and bottom multiple times a day too, so you will be cleaning him, just not bathing him regularly.  I find baths calm my LO (7 weeks old).  While I don't want to waste water, we sometimes bathe her at night during her "bewitching" hours because it calms her down.  She gets 2-4 baths per week.

  • I bathe my LO nightly. Not really a bath... We shower her, and then use baby oil/lotion. We do it as a nightly routine since it's helping her sleep well at night.

  • When we were in NICU they bathed ours twice a week.

He just turned 3 months old and still gets a couple a week unless he's fussy and then it pretty much knocks him out.

  • We aim for every 3rd day. I don't worry if we move the bath up or back a day. I wash her face, neck and bottom daily.

  • Our LO gets a bath every night. I put lotion on her after and also in the morning before I get her dressed.
  • Our LO gets a bath every other day. He enjoys it and it helps calm him if he's a little fussy. I put lotion on him right after his bath. It makes him smell so good too! :)
