TTC after 35

10 Days Past Ovulation - Symptoms?

I am 10 days past ovulation.  Last night, my boobs started hurting - still are today.  This morning I woke up sick to my stomach and had diarrhea.  My stomach is still hurting 2 hours later.  I have a headache and have been feeling lightheaded.  Has anyone else experienced these symptoms this early and it turned out to be pregnancy?  I'm a little impatient and anxious to know if we're on our way to being parents soon.  Taking a test later this week but CANNOT stop thinking about it today.  I'm in college at the age of 35 and have so much homework to do today.  I can't even start to focus on what needs to be done for wondering about this.

Also, at this point, should I worry about what I take for headaches?  Should I switch to Tylenol just in case?

Thank you!

Re: 10 Days Past Ovulation - Symptoms?

  • Thank you.  I have read some other postings today and have seen some women getting sort of attacked for not following protocol.  I don't know exactly what the protocol is for posting on the boards, but I know it's important to introduce myself.  I live in E. TN and have not been TTC that long.  I've never been pregnant, so I only know what I've read on the internet about symptoms and how early they can actually start.  I'm really trying not to read too much into my now all day stomach issues but it is happening at an interesting time and I couldn't contain my questions.  The internet is sort of vague about how early symptoms can start.  Thanks!

  • Thank you for the kind words and for honestly trying to answer my questions.
  • I got both of my BFPs at 11 DPO. If they are truly pregnancy symptoms, you should get a positive test. That said, I never had any true pregnancy symptoms until 4-6 weeks PG so every situation is different.

If it doesn't stress you out, I'd say test, as long as you understand that just bc you get a BFN doesn't mean you won't get a BFP tomorrow or the next day. GL!

    BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

BFP #3- 3/14; EDD- 11/28/14; Lost DD at 15 weeks (6/7/14)- cause unknown

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

  • My dr says if your hcg is high enough to make symptoms it's high enough to turn a stick..every person is different with symptoms..

If you haven't already, I recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and/or What to Expect Before You're Expecting. They have a lot of information on how fertility works, how you may feel in early pregnancy, what your body is doing, etc. They are really great resources as a place to start. I also recommend using Fertility Friend (if you already do not) to keep track of the symptoms and experiences you have throughout your cycle; that way, you can start to see patterns. It is also a very good resource with a lot of information about what to expect, and how your chart or cycle compares with others' (pregnant, not pregnant, etc.).

My first symptom was very tender breasts - more so than normal. I figured, if the tender breasts are from pregnancy, it will probably show on a test by now. Sure enough...I got a positive. If you're having that many symptoms already, it should show positive on a HPT, because your body will be creating quite a bit of hCG. Good luck! <:-P I hope you feel better!

  • Every cycle brings me different symptoms, so I try very hard not to get worked up when a new one rears it's ugly head. I'd say focus on homework and test in a few days.

If you're new to TTC you'll soon find how much those BFNs bring you down every month. I stopped POAS a few cycles ago and now just wait for AF to show up, no matter what symptoms I might have.

  • If what you're experiencing is actual pregnancy symptoms, you would also be pregnant enough for a test to turn positive - tests detect way less hormones than what it takes to cause those symptoms in an actual pregnancy.  Also, the hormones that are present in early pregnancy are the same ones that cause PMS symptoms - it's your body preparing for a possible pregnancy, so the symptoms can be identical.  I've had every symptom you listed and then some many or most of my cycles, and am still not pregnant.  Symptoms mean nothing until you get a positive test.

  • Thank you, ladies.  In the future I will try not to look for symptoms, but that's easier said than done.  I'll test in a few days.  I am 35 and we haven't been trying for long.  I know that the chances of it happening right away are slim.  Thank you so much for your insight.  Good luck to all of you who are trying.
  • Congrats if u r pg. I'm 4DPO, this morning I woke up to sore/tingling boobs. Later on in the afternoon I had cramping that was painful enough for me to take a Motrin. Usually my boobs hurt a week before AF, however AF isn't due to come till another 15 days. I hardly ever get pms cramps. Last times I had them is when I was taking clomid unmonitored. Ugh this is gonna be a long 2ww

Your period isn't due until 19DPO?  It's quite unusual to have an LP that is regularly that long.
