Hello everyone! I am so excited to finally (cautiously) be joining you over here. I have had 4 positive pregnancy test strips today, & will be getting a First Response test later just to make sure! I am about 4W5d along if it is all true & would be due Nov 18!!
I conceived DS (now 5) after 1.5 years of trying. We had an appointment to begin infertility testing, but I found out I was pregnant just a couple of weeks before & was able to cancel it! Then, we tried for #2 for about 1.5 years & decided to get checked out. It turned out that DH had a SEVERELY low sperm count and motility. We were told that DS was a miracle & the urologist & fertility specialist we went to were both shocked that we had a child together naturally with his numbers. They said our only hope was IVF with ICSI. We began planning for this & wanted to save up a little money first. DH froze a sperm sample & was scheduled to do one more next month. We continued trying because, hey, it happened once...who's to say we couldn't get one more miracle? But both of us had very little hope.
I expected my period to start around last Wednesday. I kept waiting & it still didn't come. I didn't think anything of it really. But this morning, I realized that I was several days late & I felt pretty sure that I knew when I ovulated, so it wouldn't make sense that I hadn't started yet. Well, I tested for the heck of it & was in utter disbelief when I saw a second line forming. I started shaking, crying & praying while I tested again with the same result. I used 4 tests & all came back positive, so I'm hoping it's not a fluke!!
Words cannot express how thrilled I am that we don't have to go through in vitro & we have been blessed yet again. It took about 2.5 years this time! I really enjoyed being a part of the forum 6 years ago when I was going through this the first time, & I have forgotten a lot of this stuff since then, haha.
We haven't told anyone yet, but I am going to call the doctor tomorrow to get in for a blood test, & we will tell family this week...no way we can keep this a secret long. ALL of our family & friends know about our struggle & how we planned on doing in vitro soon so I know they are going to be shocked & thrilled!
Welcome! I'm brand new to the boards also. Exciting to finally be on here. How long do wait to confirm everything with your doctor? Or is it right away? Also, do they do anything else on the first visit besides confirmation?
My OB asked to see me last time between 10 & 12 weeks for the first time when I was pregnant with my first. They will talk to you about the basic things you need to know & what to expect, & they will do a basic check up & listen for the heartbeat. I will be calling tomorrow to make the appointment & I can't wait!
Congrats! Glad you were able to get both BFPs before you needed to start treatment! We also were dealing with less than idea counts plus issues on my end so we're also very thankful to be here. Your families will be so excited for you!
