  • I'm so glad someone asked this! I was going to post something similar. I will be talking this thread. my son just turned one and I found out on his birthday that we are expecting #3. Not at all planned, but a happy surprise! I am still nursing as well. He eats table food so I am fairly certain the nursing is more for comfort, but I would hate to completely wean him Before he is ready. He is only nursing about 4 times a day. Anyone have experience with this? I am only 4 weeks so haven't been to the doctor yet. Thanks!

  • I nursed DD1 for a little over the first three months of pregnancy with DD2, but she was older...21 months when fully weaned.  I had a hard time nursing her because I was getting so sick, but never felt a drop in supply.  She was still nursing 5-6 times a day.
  • I nursed DD through the first 4 months of my pregnancy with DS - until DD was 2 years old. At that point, I felt comfortable weaning her - mainly because it was sensitive & painful at that part of my pregnancy, and I was happy to get her to 2 years. She was only nursing morning/night for brief periods of time.

  • I was still nursing ds1 when i got pregnant. He was 18 months at the time. My milk dried up at 10 weeks but he continued comfort nursing once a day till the end. I night weaned and stopped nursing to sleep due to aversion and excessive braxton hicks around 16 weeks. Ds2 is now 5 weeks old and ds1 is 99% weaned after my hospital stay, but has nursed once every few days or so, or less. Certainly with a younger baby there are different issues involved, but there's no need to wean right away (or at all).
