Hello all. I was wondering if anyone else was dealing with migraines during their pregnancy? I've been having them and using Tylenol. Doc says to call her if they don't get better and she would give me something stronger. Thoughts?
I second the chiropractor. I have been getting debilitating migraines all pregnancy that send me to the ER and that seems the help decrease the frequency I get them. However, I still needed a stronger prescription to get through the rest. I hate to sound like a druggie, but I have ultram, Tylenol 3, fiorcet, and phenergan. I know, it's awful... Obviously I don't take them all at once and it's only as a last resort, but it's the only thing that was able to help, and they mainly just knock me out so I can sleep it off.
I was really nervous at first to take such strong medications while pregnant, but after talking to the doctor he said the stress of a three or four day migraine is potentially much worse for the baby than the side effects of the medications. Plus, it's a lot cheaper than an ER visit.
I agree on the chiropractor and suggest prenatal massage. I have chronic severe migraines without being pregnant. I take Maxalt (used for migraine relief only) when I have one and it works wonders. (Dr approved)
I also have been getting them actually every day for the past week and I do the tylenol, nip of caffeine, and lying in a dark room especially since I get really nauseous as one of my first signs with the light sensitivity.
Migraines are such a pain. The worst part for me is all if the meds that are commonly prescribed are known for rebound headaches especially tylenol 3 and Fiorcet. I still take them as sometimes it is the lesser if 2 evils. I cannot wait to be able to be back on topomax and Imitrex

Good luck!
