Vero's post about transitioning to a big boy bed got me thinking about my upcoming move. I'm stressing about putting the two girls together in a room.
When we moved the boys into the same room they were a little older - 3.5 and 2. They started sleeping better in the room together than they did separately. It worked really well.
When we move, we will be putting the two girls together, but they are much younger at 3 and 1. Since DD2 will still be in her crib, I'm worried about how this will work. I imagine DD2 being confined in a crib through the night while her older sister tortures and taunts her from outside. I'm wondering if it would be better to either put them in the same bed to sleep together at night or give them separate beds, but move DD2 to a toddler bed, so she's not in a crib. She'll be close to 14 months at the time of the move. The earliest I've ever moved a kid to a big bed was 17 months and it was my most difficult transition, so I imagine 14 months would be even worse.
What would you do?
Re: s/o room sharing with one in a crib
I would say give it a try! What's the worst thing to happen? If it doesn't work out, put DD2 back in the crib. Then you can stow her mattress under one of the other kids' beds (trundle style) until she is read ready.
