Hurts to walk

  1. It started about two weeks ago, it kind of felt like I'd been on a looong horseback ride, just kind of sore but tolerable.  But in the past week the pain is more on my crotch, like I fell on a pole crotch first.  When I'm sitting I am fine, and once I'm up and walking around it's tolerable but when I first stand up and walk around I am almost in tears.  I'm 39 weeks 1 day and only dilated to 1 so as of right now labor isn't right around the corner.  I've never made it this far in pregnancy so I assume it's normal and stuff is just moving around and getting ready, just wondering who else can commiserate with me.

Edit: I have no idea why there is a 1. at the beginning and I cannot get it to go away

  • Not to get your hopes up, but this happened to me the week or so leading up to labor. I would sit on my exercise ball any chance I got because my crotch hurt so bad.

Ah, that would be nice but I'll probably get to my induction date before then (Tuesday).  I have an exercise ball....did sitting on it help the pain upon standing at all?

  • I have SPD, which sounds exactly like what you're experiencing, however I've had this since 20ish weeks. I highly recommend visiting a chiropractor, they have really helped me manage this pain, and if you go for a couple adjustments before baby arrives, it could definitely help with a more smooth delivery. It could just be the relaxin affecting your joints, but I would put money down on one or both of your pubic bones being out of alignment- from what you describe and my experience, it would be very worth it to visit a chiro who does prenatal adjustments. I always walk out of there feelin awesome and the pain nearly gone. I hope this helps! And I sincerely feel your pain, I'm so sorry you have to deal with it too! Just a little bit longer!

  • I'm 40w +2 and have been feeling it for the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately, it has only gotten worse along the way, especially after a rather busy day physically. I've found that laying down helps it feel not quite so bad as opposed to sitting. And try to stay away from hard chairs. They are the devil! Restaurants are a big pain in the vag these days because of the hard chairs! Lol!

  • I had this for a couple of weeks before giving birth as well. And hey, I was only dilated to 2, four hours before giving birth... so ya never know!

It seemed to help loosen things up a bit so it provided temporary relief at least. Seeing a chiropractor is probably a better long term fix
  • I'm 39 weeks and this just started happening to me yesterday. I'm trying to take it easy today was my last day at work. Hope you feel better.
  • I have a question about this as well.  I have been having this pain for a few weeks now (just thought it was normal).  At my appointment yesterday, the doctor said the baby has not dropped yet (39w4d).  I am wondering if my pelvic is misaligned and if a chiropractor can help.

I just made an appointment for Monday (40 weeks), but is it too late for that?

Not too late! As long as baby is still in there, they can help! I would recommend seeing them after you give birth also- when you're up to it. It has helped me tremendously with this problem and I started later too (36 weeks). My babe dropped at 37 which made the pain more intense and pushed me out of alignment even more, but the adjustments are keeping my pain down to a faint growl and they said it should make delivery much smoother to have everything in the right place! As you can guess I have fallen in love with my chiropractor- they are angels from heaven- so I say go for it!! And good luck mamma!!

  • I have had this for many weeks. I thought it was what everyone calls lightening crotch, but now I know the difference lol. When I mentioned it to my dr last appointment he showed me the babies head deep, deep in my pelvis. Come on baby lets go!

Yep, that sounds like what I am feeling.  I've never been to a chiro though, so I doubt I could find one and get in for an appt on Monday, before my Tuesday induction.  I'll definitely look into it for after though if the issue doesn't correct itself.  So sorry you've been in pain for so long, I can't imagine.

Oh totally, it's much better at home when I can sit on the couch.  My office chair isn't super cushy and always was painful to walk to the bathroom.  Last night MH and I went to a 2 hour comedy show for our last date night out and I thought I was going to die by the end of the show.  I thought he was going to have to carry me out of there.

  • Thanks for commiserating with me, sorry to see that so many are in pain, but comforting to know others can relate.  A couple weeks ago I was like eh, I'm uncomfortable but I can wait a few more weeks for her to come.  Now, my induction cannot come soon enough.
