I am 33 weeks pregnant and a little neevous. I have controlled thyroid disease and controlled pb. No issues so far but have been diagnosed with GD but managing to keep it under control without insulin. My biggest concern right now besides getting asthmatic brought on by a cold and having to go get extensive ultrasounds because at my 32 week they think he has sua or a single ambilical artery. They did not really give me an explanation other than not to worry that its prolly fine. But my question is has anyone have this and what where the results or possible issues. I tried not to loom on net but i am a lil nervous.

I'm sorry, could you rewind, collect your thoughts, and compose something legible?

I'm not quite sure what your thyroid "disease" has to do with the price of eggs in China since it's "controlled". My mom had no issues with the hypothyroidism that runs in our family in regards to her many pregnancies and if your thyroid function is regulated, with medication or otherwise, it means your body is working within normal parameters.

Looks like there is no correlation of SUA to your other medical issues. It's simply a failure of the artery to develop properly or to develop improperly and waste away. Your doctors will monitor you closely to ensure the health of your child.

Also, stop leaving your doctor's appointments without valid explanations. This is your life and the life of your child on the line.

  • Your other issues have nothing to do with an SUA.

My OB found the same thing at my anatomy scan.  All it means is that they will look extra close at the baby's brain, heart and other organs to make sure everything is fully developed.  If you're 33 weeks and they just found it, I assume you've already had at least one ultrasound to make sure everything was ok with your baby.  My OB relayed to me that it really isn't a big deal, especially when it is isolated and not coupled with possible structural/chromosomal abnormalities.

For me, it just means that I am being monitored more closely with weekly growth scans after 35 weeks.  It is commonly associated with low birth weight or IUGR.  Most likely, your OB will send you for a growth scan to determine where your baby is measuring.  For me, it doesn't seem like the SUA has had any effect - as my baby is measuring in the 57th percentile and is developing perfectly.

Honestly, just talk to your doctor about it. Don't bother googling or researching it on the internet, as that never helps.  And if your doctor has instructed you not to worry then don't.
