Slight morning vent!

Why can't SO ever get up in the morning! It's nearly 9 o clock and I can't get him up so I can take a nap ( a bit selfish I know but LO and I had a rough night and I'm exhausted!). I understand he's tired, he works til midnight and doesn't get to bed until around 1 but I let him sleep in every day until 9 or 10, unless I work early. On Sundays I take LO out of the house so he can catch up on sleep and he doesn't get up until around 11 which is fine but I would really appreciate some help when you don't work late. I get up every morning with LO, which is around 8/830 so that's not bad at all but today he woke up 4 times last night and up at 630. I am not used to that! He has off today and is planning on going to play poker tonight with some friends and it just doesn't seem fair. Your so exhausted but on your night off your staying out late anyway? I just don't think it's fair to me. I feel like he just expects me to get up with LO. Thanks, vent over!
For those of you with LO's who still get up at night or wake up really early.. I don't know how you do it!

Re: Slight morning vent!

  • I'm on the fence because the roles in my house are reversed.  Hubs is home w/lo while he's out of work and I'm the one working.  When I get home I take over, feeding, diapers and we both play with her and I'm the one that gets up in the middle of the night, if need be.  But because lo sleeps until about 8am and I leave the house at 6:30am hubs gets up around 7:45 to take care of lo for the day.  However on the weekends, I'm the one getting up at 8am and takes care of the lo on Sat and Sun, and hubs is the one sleeping in, 10am.

I completely understand wanting to take a nap, I put lo down for her nap around 10am and if I need a nap I go back to bed w/the monitor.  Does lo have a set nap in the morning, maybe you can start one?

  • Since he got up an hour and a half earlier than usual I'm not too sure about his nap. He normally goes down around 1030/11. He shows no signs of being tired and only screamed when I tried to lay him down so we're still playing.
  • Just a thought, do you have a guest bedroom?  Would lo play or sleep in a pnp if he were in the same room with you?
  • You're too nice to your SO. DH and I both work out of the house. Being a teacher, I get more large spans of vacation time compared to DH. During my vacations, DH is usually the one up with LO when she's having sleep issues.

Do you get mommy nights (or days) out from time to time? If not, would institute them starting with a few hours before your SO goes off for polker night.

  • The pnp is at my fMIL's house, thankfully SO got up and I got a nap before work. I did freak out on him just a bit though.

@LittleFish1 I really don't get much me time, when were together LO prefers to play with me so even when I try to check the bump or catch up on my shows I have LO coming up to me to show what he can do with the leggos, it's actually rather adorable but frustrating at the same time because SO just sits on the couch doing whatever he's doing. At the same time he's so helpful around the house I almost feel guilty for getting mad at him. But I think your definitely right, I need to plan some mommy time.
